need help with granite choices

Kitchen is at a standstill because I am completely stuck on choosing granite. I am having cream oolor cabinets and originally chose coastal green granite to match my fairly new table and chairs which are exactly the same color. Now am having second thoughts about using the green, maybe should use more neutral color. saw a friend's kitchen with Everst white but can't find it in Toronto. Any suggestions for a creamy light granite without yellow or rust in it? I've spent a ridiculous amount of time searching and must decide soon. Please help !

If you want white/cream granite, look for Andromeda (alku05 has a drop dead gorgeous kitchen), bianca antiqua?, kashmir white, or white springs. You can find a thread or two on white granites by searching this forum. However, having just put in a blue granite that is the focal point of my kitchen and my pride & joy, I will encourage you to revisit the green instead of being stuck in neutral :)

I love coastal green granite. I'm thinking about using it for our master bath. If you love it go for it!

hey everyone! sorry today was a very busy day, aside from going nuts over house stuff my fiancee and I are also busy planning a wedding :) So anyways we went by the granite place today and spent some time really looking at the slabs, and when we really looked at the titanium from some different angles we saw quite a bit of silver in there and not so much white at all really. when we put the cabinet against it the silver did not play well at all with the brown to be honest. After looking at the sage brush again we decided that it would be the best way to go as it has some browns for the cabinet and is an astounding match for the floor as well. Basianov I said it before but ill say it again, I am really grateful for the effort you have gone to in helping me with my decision, and thanks to everyone else for their help as well, I truly did not expect such a fantastic response, once its in ill post pics for sure for everyone to see! you guys are great :) Bruno

I have personally had had your flooring and loved it, the color brings a nice warmth to any home. However, they can take over and dominate as well. I somewhat counteracted that as I had many works of hanging art...and years ago eggplant walls here and there as well as golden yellow. Another thought is to look at some mid gray shades without a lot of movement for countertops with maybe small barely noticeable streaks of floor color or none at all, thatÂs what I did and with that you will have more options on paint colors and decorating. If you have a dominate floor and a dominate countertop maybe some of the other lovely things in your home will be overlooked.

Update: Well, I took your advice, and kept looking. I think I wore DH out, because he finally just said I could go and he'd be ok w/ whatever I selected. Freedom...yet a big responsibility so I need to get it "right"! So, the other day, I decided to dedicate a whole day to visiting other granite yards within an hour's drive from here. I walked into the first place, and saw a slab I'd never seen before. It is so different from the Giallo Ornamentals and Delicatus slabs I'd been "focusing" on, but I think it is THE one! It isn't quite as blue as it looks in the picture, but it definitely compliments the blue fabric on the dining room chair seats. (When I saw it, I realized that having gray/blue in the stone could work really well because we are opening up the kitchen to the dining room and our dining room.) It also has some taupe/neutral shades that work with the plank tile floor. What do you think?!

Bk wow you are moving at record speed! Hope things are going well w/remodel Ok here's my humble op #1 Harvest cream - goes well w/both, subtle, classy - works #2 Ivory Chiffon - same as above #3 River white - because it is creamy - not white & works #4 Kashmir Gold - I initially totally ruled it out, because yellows are a very hard color to work with - but now that you have shown your family room - I would def put this in the running - Lots of yellow & golds in there including mantle, flooring I find the silver one too cold as most the whites (valley)- & fighting the cream cabs as does the top green I would request sample of your top 3-4 as large as you can get & bring them into your space w/ANY other parts of your palette - stainless(if you are using any DW, range,etc), wood flooring, furnishing, paint, backsplash, of course cabs, hardware - leave & "live" with it (even though i think you are in a condo now) - but see it in different lights etc The counter stone is just one part of the pallette and a big one - So, any of the palette that is known at this time would be critical to use to make the decision. i.e. I had r/o the kashmir gold until I saw more of the family room. I like the idea of the coastal green, but here's a neutral quartzite. You would have to determine if the cream tones coordinate well, of course. You could also search here for the thread on white granites/marble look alikes. How neutral do you want to go?

Here's the post on white granite. I would recommend Colonial Cream if you have cream cabinets. I think bluekit meant to write Bianco Antico which is my chosen granite but it works better with cooler white cabinets, not warm creams.

I've attached a picture of our kitchen with the Andromeda White granite bluekit mentioned above. We chose this stone for the contrast, but also b/c it was extemely important to my DH that all expensive or permanent items in our house were very neutral in color.

The white granite thread redroze linked above has a lot of good suggestions in it.
