Full Fridge (no freezer)?
Comments (19)mikomum - when the Frigidaire ones first came out, the reviews weren't very good. People had problems with them not maintaining temperatures, being noisy, and with the units getting quite warm (I think that was mainly with the freezer). They also weren't energy star rated. The newer ones have much more positive reviews, and they are energy star rated. As I said, we have had ours running in our garage, and as we live in Montana, we have pretty extreme temperature variations. Even in summer, the food stays frozen/cold, and in the winter, our fridge stuff doesn't get frozen. We've already really put ours through the paces and have been pleased with the performance. With the trim kits (you can trim them out side-by-side with the duo trim kit, or individually, like we're doing), they give a nice built-in look for much less money than other options. My only major complaint about them is that the interiors are pretty basic. My current side-by-side has lots of nice customization options for the shelving and bins, but the twins are nothing fancy inside. Rhome410 has the Electrolux Icon all-fridge (two of them) and all-freezer, and they are much nicer looking, inside and out, while still being less expensive than the other options out there. If you have a little wiggle room in your budget, they're definitely worth a look....See MoreDo appliances have to "match"
Comments (72)Thanks, Deedles! I do like the twins very much. However, they didn't tell me that you really need the trim package to keep them from sliding all over the place, and to level them. I just didn't want the fake grills. I needed them to look as small as possible! MSeth - YES! I forgot how the wave touch interferred with the granite. I didn't notice the contoured front and the salesman didn't warn me. My granite was templated before the oven was installed, so when the oven was put in, it stuck out beyond the granite. It was ugly, unfinished metal lip on top. I could not have kept it like that. The granite guys came back and broke the glue on the island and shifted the entire slab forward. Luckily, there was a little room in my sink cabinet for the sink to move forward just enough for the granite to cover the contour. I tried to take a picture to show how it is basically flush with the counter edge. I am still concerned that liquid might spill on the island and run into the electronics, but it is much better than it was. Regarding the kiddos...I don't notice that the door gets any hotter than any other oven that I have owned. It does get hot. One thing about it being so low is that when you lean down to open it the hot air french fries your face. So, you will want to teach the kids to stay away from it. The easy glide racks slide so easily, that your food gets momentum and practically slides right off the rack. It also lights up and beeps when people stands up to it and wakes it up. It has a lock feature, but it is a bright blue and it stays on all the time when it is locked, so I don't like to lock the oven. If I had it to do over, I would not buy this oven again. Sorry to tell you that!...See More48" range or full size fridge and freezer- which would you rather?
Comments (9)It really is ALL about your cooking style, and how you think that might evolve over time - and when the very hungry teenager turn into their own visiting hungry families. We are only a fam of four - two younger kids, with a 36" range top, dual 30" ovens, and FD CD fridge. The CD FD fridge is fine but the freezer is too limited so we picked up a small upright freezer (it was an inexpensive 11 cubic Fridgidair) for the basement that is perfect for our needs. I hear many say that dual ovens is mostly a waste but we use the heck out of our dual convection ovens - mostly every weekend and heavily often. My one kitchen do-over would be to get a 48" BS range top with grill and 6 burners instead of just my 36" BS 6 burner range top. I don't do much griddleing and have a large all-clad electric I pull out when I do. But that's just a preference thing....See Moreundercounter fridge+freezer or full size combo: which works better?
Comments (2)Unless you go high end, under counter units tend to be louder and less refined on the temperature control. Other than that, a fridge is a fridge. Relatives have a new GE undercounter fridge. 4-5cf. It holds a surprising amount. Drawer fridges/freezers are easier to use, in general, but cost more. Organizing bins or bags can help with a door fridge. I have a 24" wide drawer unit, and it'll hold a 25 lb. turkey in the carton it was shipped in....See Moremegradek
