Warm Spring Granite- thoughts? too busy?
Comments (11)Thanks so much! I, too, really love this slab! Oh, and my apologies -- it's actually called White Springs, not Warm Springs. Thanks so much for all the input here, I really appreciate it! :)...See MoreSea Pearl or Danby Marble w/my Soapstone?
Comments (86)lynn2006 - Thank you! The photos really don't do it justice. Such a calm, serene stone with a cottage/coastal look to it. My DH likes it, too; I think it's both masculine & feminine. Yes, the fact that it won't etch is huge. They won't guarantee it won't etch but if it does, the pattern & subtle texture will help to mask it. Marble etching doesn't bother me; more so, my DH. So this stone works for both of us. I love that it is not a polished stone; it looks so different from the other Sea Pearl slabs I was considering primarily because of the matte finish. Fingers crossed the quote doesn't blow the budget! holly-kay & romy - I appreciate your input re your sinks! Now I have that decision to make. :) My DH likes stainless; I like the apron look. Our fabricator said he makes a cost-efficient "faux apron" sink by using a stainless steel undermount sink with an apron front made out of the counter material. He's going to provide photos of previous jobs; says it looks nice. That might be the way to go for us; a nice compromise....See Moreneed help choosing perimeter countertops to match quartzite island
Comments (27)appreciate you all taking the time to reply. wish i could reply to each comment individually just after each comment but unfortunately doesn't look like i can do that. @rnonwheels -flooring will be luxury vinyl plank; considered black countertops but i really like how white really brightens and opens up a room @mint design studio -my flooring might be a bit busy, but i'm likely doing simple, white 3x9 (or larger) subway tile for backsplash @rachel nye -i might consider doing all namib sky if the stone yard would refund me for the allure slab i bought. although i bought it cuz i absolutely love it, so i'm leaning more towards keeping it. don't have enough to do perimeter counters. thanks for the pic -i love it. is it a calacatta or white volakas? @sunfeather -some of the larger chunks of grey looking clouds would probably end up being removed with cutouts for sink and cooktop. i'll see if i can post a pic of the flooring. likely doing a 3x9 or 3x12 subway tile for backsplash this is the flooring we are using: and possible backsplash:...See Morewould 2 counter materials be too busy in my space?
Comments (26)Oh yes, I can totally understand wanting to play it safe. I would probably do the same thing in your shoes. I know that two different cabinet materials with two different countertops is one that can easily get botched. But for some reason I feel like your particular kitchen could have been the exception to the rule. I think it would have been amazing, if only you could have found the perfect quartzite for the island! Needle in the haystack though to find the perfect color and have it also pass the testing. I do have a confession. When I mocked up your one quartzite slab above, I didn’t really like it. I thought it was way too white, so I tinted it to be closer to your cabinet color a couple shades. But, it still wasn’t quite working was it! I am in agreement with you on the quartz choice. I definitely prefer the Cambria Malvern over the Calacatta Valentin. As I looked at a few images of the Valentin, I am sorry to say this, but all that kept popping in my head was…That pattern looks exactly like an old broken cracked concrete driveway. 😬 It might have just been the few I saw though. Anyways, here is the Malvern. I think it looks very nice. It will make it easier and much more fun to pick out the backsplash. Now to answer your question if you should do the soapstone remnant on the hutch area? Um let me think…..YEEEESSS!!! Just do some black somewhere like hardware or light fixtures (like you have), metal on bar stools, etc… I have seen some kitchens do the black handles on the painted cabinets and then do antiqued brass or different style on the wood. I have no doubt, whatever you decide it will be gorgeous! Please post a reveal....See Moresanjuangirl
