Do you want to see Quartz with Silgranit sink?

It's slow progress, but we are moving forward nonetheless. I got the sink side of my kitchen counter installed and I am very happy with it. The counter is Yellow Nile Silestone. Sink is the Cafe Brown Blanco. And the faucet is the Grohe Bridegeford in ORB. My backsplash will be going in this next week. I learned about Silgranit sinks from this forum, so thank you!

I am not sure what your KDs are thinking of. We have owned Swanstone sinks for almost 20 years. The bathroom sinks are indestructible, and our kitchen sink, installed in 2003, has been a delight. It is quieter and frankly, easier to clean than the top-notch Kohler Executive Chef porcelain-clad cast iron sink that was replaced. Which, BTW, was in perfect condition when it was removed, despite hideously hard usage. Nonetheless, we were glad to replace the double EC with the single Swanstone. Note that aluminum pans will leave the same "gray marks" on solid surfacing that they do on clad cast iron sinks. These scrub away very easily with Softscrub or a quick soak with a bit of bleach (but if you use bleach, ALWAYS rinse well after a few minutes - especially for clad cast iron; it will eat the coating away). As I said, the Swanstone solid surface sink cleans much, much easier than the Kohler. You may believe whomever you wish, but my DH has often commented to me that the Swanstone sink was the best thing we did in a $26K updating of our kitchen and bathrooms. One thing matte sinks are very bad with is leaving wet cans (we have to rinse cans before they can go into the recycling bins) overnight: they leave a rust stain that takes about a month to go away. Note that uncoated cast iron cookware would probably do the same thing. I don't clean the sink extensively more than once a month; it simply doesn't need it. One either likes the matte finish of Swanstone/Corian or one doesn't. Many people like the high-gloss look and think solid surface sinks always look "dull". Our kitchen is extremely high-glare - I get sun in the windows 365 days a year, all 24' wide and 16' tall from picture windows, so we are very anti-glare. Best of luck with whatever you choose to do.

I have had my super single for two days and I am in love! I love the stainless rack on the bottom. I watered plants in it today. Don't have to worry about stuff on the bottom touching dishes. I like the idea of the Cascade, but I love the fact that everything can lay flat in this giant sink. It's fantastic! I plan to get an expandable colander to use for rinsing veggies, etc. You won't regret it if you get this one. mbarstow- I think i know what splash factor is now. My new faucet is a lot higher than my old one. I have a Delta Allora, which I'm also deeply in love with. Since it sits higher, the water does sort of splash out. We're getting the hang of it. I think we just need less water pressure. By the way, my drain is off to the side.

The sinks do not come with strainer baskets, we just installed two Blanco grey silgranite sinks a month ago. You want to choose them to coordinate either with the sink or your faucet. I found some decent ones in brushed nickel at home depot for around $35 each. Kohler has some but they are over $ 50 each. If you're using a plumber he probably has some cheap ones on his truck that he'll mark up (price wise) substantially if you use his. I would recommend that you go and pick out your own.

OHHH! That looks so pretty. I also learned about the silgranit sinks from this forum. I put in the black-they are so rich looking IMO. Only wish I had found this site sooner as I would have made some changes in my kitchen layout!! Can't wait to see your backsplash.

Thanks guys! I am glad to have some of my perimeter counters in.

My island counter has been quite an another story. The original fabricator broke 2 slabs of it while it was being cut (2 separate times). I told him I wanted to change fabricators. (I gently reminded him that I was still using him for the Silestone and the laundry room granite.) So, my GC found another slab and a fabricator who HAS worked with the leathered Antique Brown before. Keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out. As you all know, granite slabs can be tricky. Hopefully it will be here in another 2 weeks.

I can hardly wait for my backsplash as I think that will end up being the focal point of my kitchen. IMHO, it is very pretty and soft. They are supposed to start on it tomorrow!!! Hurray!!

chris45ny, don't you love your sink! I am thrilled with it after coming from a chipped white cast iron/enamel that could always see coffee and tea stains on.

doonie...that looks great...I love the contrast of the dark and light.

Im a new silgranit sink owner and so far it's great! Black doesn't show anything:)

Cant wait to see that Antique leathered brown..sounds scrumptious!

your countertop looks beige in the pic. that was my first choice but when I went into the showroom the sample looked too yellow... does yours looks more beige or yellow?

desertsteph, I would say it't in the cream category. I am painting my walls BM Windham Cream and it reads that tone to me. It is a very soft quiet color, which is what I was looking for. It definitely reads warm. It helps a lot if you can take a sample home to see in your own light. What others are you looking at?

The counter tone is also similar to the temporary plywood sheeting that we still have covering our center island. So I guess it's a yellowish cream? (Hope that helps.)

thx doonie. I wanted something in the cream family... after my disappointment that it looked ylw I went totally another way - formica butterum! I've always gone rather calm and beige/cream so I decided it was time to go totally different.

I might check it out again when I get to my mstr bath tho.

will watch for you completed kitchen.
