Corner Angled Cabinet LED Lighting Suggestions.

What seems to be the best bang for the buck with it comes to led lighting for the angled corner cabinets. In my case the glass will be clear beveled, 36" upper with a dark cherry stain and two 1/4" glass shelves. They don't have to be dimable I'd like at least 150 lumen s, 4000k range would be nice and fairly flush if possible.

I'd say $100.00, which would include, one light per cab for a total of two and include the driver/transformer. I'll do the install and have 120 volt switched receptacle in place.

I've seen these at Richelieu 3W LED New Vision - 155123170 and they seem ok. If memory serves me right they're around $35.00 each but I don't remember the cost of the power supply.

I just used tape lights around the face frame on all of the wood cabinets. Puck lights don't work well unless you have specific objects that you want to highlight, and you need glass shelving as well. The rolls of LED tape can be used for pretty much all of the lighting, including the uplighting that I did as well.

It's definitely a matter of opinion of which looks nicer, because I think the 90 degree doors look far better. I don't like the way the diagonal style comes over the counter, and on base cabs, takes up floor space, making the kitchen seem smaller, and only accomplishing making a deep corner all that much deeper. The 90 degree doors offer wider access to a cabinet that isn't as deep and cavelike, as others have already said. To me the diagonal doored cabinets look big and awkward, especially in layouts in which they don't have a cabinet next to them on each side. We had the 90-degree door with the center hinge in our last house and I never found it to be a problem, as I just knew what to expect from it and how to operate it. We had another corner cabinet (base cab) that was at an odd angle and had to have your 2nd option...the 2 doors in which one overlaps the other in the center. This is OK, too, as long as you (and family members) always remember which one closes first and don't end up doing it twice every time. ;-) Also, you have to open and close 2 doors instead of one a lot of the time...So it depends on whether that bothers you or not.

lexmomof3, I think you're right that in this day and age, installing the newer types of LED lighting,which in your case is well known Maxlite, listed as dimmable, is just...unbelievable. I am hoping there is something he hasn't told you about his circuit, something he can add, amend or re-do. If not him (as this is highly...unprofessional to leave a client to have to suspend the light by pulling off the plug from the bar), then I suggest you get in another electrician in to attempt to place a switch and withhold final payment in the interim to the first. I am sorry that communication problems have crept into your kitchen lighting, with now the back splash in too. You might call your lighting retailer and ask for assistance too.

We found it helpful when considering this choice to think about the color of the lighting. Fluorescents are "cold," and will not show the true color of your countertop or backsplash. That may not be important to you, but if you're installing $$$ granite or quartz, please spend the extra money on LEDs so you can enjoy your beautiful surfaces and appreciate their true colors. We chose Kichler LEDs for our kitchen and put fluorescents in the DR (because we don't spend a lot of time in there). Our LED UCLs are now failing (18 months after installation) and our lighting provider has agreed to provide replacement fixtures (but not installation) for free. I'm more than a little annoyed, but still love my LED UCLs.

I got my LED puck lights from LED Lights Canada and they have strips as well - $17 for a foot long piece and they link together. http://www.ledlightscanada.com/index.php/LED-Low-Voltage-Lights/Linkable-LED-Cabinet-Light/yagendoo_VaMazing_2.tpl.html I did mine on their dimmable drivers using 2 Lutron LV dimmers. The people there were very helpful in designing my layout and putting a package together for me. I didn't want to just buy big-box lighting which is typically the lowest end stuff out of China, and I didn't want to spend $100 on each puck like some of the major brands charge. I paid about $24 for each puck and $80 or so for each driver (each driver runs 10 pucks but could do many more - I just needed 2 drivers to run on two dimmers). So far so good - everything works perfectly and between the in cabinet lights and the under cabinet lights, we hardly use the ceiling fixtures any more (10 x 4' recessed lights). I can't really tell from your description but it sounds like you have 6-8 linear feet to light? If so then you'd be looking at say $120 or for the strips and $50 - $80 for a driver, depending on how many watts you need and if you want them dimmable (the strips are dimmable). So should work well within your budget. I've only gotten lights from them once, and I spent $700 or so on my entire setup with 2 drivers and 20 puck lights. I did light bars to light up cabs along the vertical axis - very inexpensive, all you need to do is knotch out a very small amount of space to run the strip. You can even put the transformer and connections above (or hide inside).

That's one of my sources. They have LEDs that go all the way up to 400 lumens per foot, with colors from very warm 2500k all the way up to glaringly ghostly white 7500k.

Thanks for the reply marcojohnson.

I'm also looking for under-cabinet lighting and after purchasing about 6 different sets from ribbon Sylvania's to make my own by soldering 470 ohm resisters, I haven't found one that really stands out. I've really had some bad luck with Ebay type specials so I'm done with trial and error.

The ones in the link seem really attractive, price wise, I don't see any mention of lumen s per foot or did I miss that?

Check out the Hafele website. There are so many options it's dizzying. They also have a service when you purchase through an authorized retailer where they'll take your layout and design the system for you with all of the parts and pieces needed. It's extremely versatile.

Hafele led loox is a nice line. I did their undercounter and puck lights in uppers. Really, really happy with them. I don't remember price point, sorry
