White Cabs, Soapstone and ? (other than WhiteSubway Tile)
Comments (20)We will have white cabinets and absolute black honed granite. However, I think our solution will work for soapstone. My husband did not want a white backsplash - he thought it would look too sterile. When we met with our decorator on thursday, we came up with a very, very light green subway tile. We are going to mount it in a heringbone pattern (if I spelled that right!). We will pull in some more color (darker green & whitish cream tile) over the stove. It will be very subtle, but at least something different. We picked out the vermouth color. See this page: http://www.decor-n-tile.com/IMAGEgallery28.htm (it is at the bottom) I hope this helps!...See MoreRecs for white paint with white subway tile
Comments (2)Thanks Karen! I appreciate your opinion! paint is hard!! as far as my kitchen goes, I'm planning navy perimeter cabinets with white tops. the backsplash is white subway with dark charcoal grout. there will be a stained open shelf along the main wall surrounding the vent hood. so no upper cabs. I can include a picture, cabinets installed next week. thanks for advice!!...See MoreBest white grout for white subway tile?
Comments (13)We used Maipei "Frost." It's a very, very light gray, but IMO it "reads" as white. It provides a teeny tiny bit of contrast from the subway tile so that you can see the edges/pattern of the tile. But it's not dark at all. My problem with white is that to my eye, it appears slightly yellow. When we were re-tiling 3 upstairs bathrooms this Spring, I made the mistake of choosing white for 1 bathroom, and after it was done, I immediately changed to Frost for the other 2. The Frost looks a lot better. You can have your tile pro make you a sample board to confirm your choice....See Morelooking for white square “subway” like tiles in a soft white?
Comments (14)have you gone to a regular tile store? they carry all brands and all those off-white colors. you'll have better luck going there then shopping online. Try Emser at those stores. you could also do Fireclay Tile. these are their 4x4's. they have about 10 different 'whites'. Calcite, Gardenia, Tusk, Ivory,,,,all may be good choices. These are a little pricier, but they are beautifully made tiles. and they have 6x6 too https://www.fireclaytile.com/subway-tile/colors they'll ship you 5 free sample colors...See Moreamsunshine
