Would kitchen floor tile 12x12 be too small?
Comments (6)Exactly what rocketmomkd said. Just about any tile size from 1" up to as large as tiles get can be used in a kitchen. It just depends on what look you want and what tile you like. Certainly less grout is probably easier to clean, but I wouldn't be worried about that with 12x12s. Seal your grout before you begin using the kitchen and that should help prevent staining. I also do not see a problem with having a bathroom with larger tile. And honestly, I imagine if the rooms aren't adjacent you won't even notice that the 13x13s are larger than the 12x12s....See Morewhen to use 5 inch or 3 1/2 inch planks for wood flooring
Comments (4)You should talk to a local flooring expert. I was going to go with a 5" plank in our lower level and they talked me out of it because it's too dry here (which causes shrinking etc) and because it isn't as flexible in earth quakes. They sell anything, but don't recommend anything above 4" wide and really push you to 3. Its not a sales issue, they will pull out sample pics to share showing why NOT to use it. It's such an issue here, they would sell me the 5" but wouldn't warrenty it....See MoreIs 12 inches too deep for a kitchen sink?
Comments (7)I think so. I think it will be really hard to scrub the broiler pan as it sits on the bottom of the sink. (My sink is about 8" deep, and I find that I'm at the end of my "effective reach" when I'm scrubbing something that's sitting flat on the bottom of my sink--I can reach well enough to press hard while I scrub. If my sink were an inch deeper, I'd have to stand on my tiptoes in order to really scrub something) I'm 5'2", so I don't have the world's longest arms. If I were taller, I'd have longer arms--but then, they'd start so much higher up, which would mean I'd have to bend over more (not just to scrub but also simply to reach in), which would mean it would be harder on my back. (do you have a "slop sink" or a utility sink or laundry sink in the garage, or do you know someone who does? The top of those tubs is usually 35" from the floor (so a teeny bit lower that the top of your kitchen counter), and they're 13" deep, often. (undermount sinks end up about an inch or more deeper than their own depth, once they're installed) That's what as 12" sink would feel like to work in--like a utility sink. Of course it would look nicer, but it would feel like that. I wouldn't like it. Here is a link that might be useful: utility or laundry sink...See More12 x 24" tile too large for small bathroom?
Comments (12)thanks everyone. I'm glad you agree with the 12 x 24 because I really like the look. And I will skip the border tile which was iffy in my mind. For the person who told me to fix the layout size, I wish I could. Only eliminating my bedroom closet or an extension on the house could fix the problem. So I'm making the best of it. It works as a 1 person bathroom, and is off the master bedroom so it's not such a problem....See Morelascatx
