Problems with GE Advantium oven?

I have a GE Advantium that is under one year old (and is still under manufacturer warranty). In the past couple of months we have had quick power outages (power goes out and comes right back on so quickly that most clocks and other appliances don't need resetting). Each time this happens, the display breaks on the advantium (but the oven still functions) and I need a repair person to come fix it. It's almost a year old, so I need to figure out if I need to purchase an extended warranty or see if GE or the store will replace it.

Does anyone else have this problem? If so, did you resolve it?

I'm surprised that GE has fixed your MW so far. Most manufacturers would not as the problem is not from a manufacturing defect. It's from the power supply on your end. Power spikes and brownouts/blackouts should be investigated by your utility company and whole home surge protection should be installed. More than just your MW is at stake. Many electronics are VERY sensitive to this, including computers and TVs. I'm surprised that you haven't had more issues with other appliances as well.

Thank goodness, I have not had this problem! And we just had an outage exactly as you describe this morning at 6am! (I know bc I have a "Sleep Number" bed and when the electric goes out the air pump beeps really loud - what a pain!)

I did, however, buy extended warranties on all my appliances. Since we were building custom around so many things, we wanted to be sure it made sense to repair rather than replace whenever possible.

We also put a whole house surge protector at our main box (I've never seen it but know we paid for it), so maybe that is helping our situation.

When you say you have no room for a wall double oven, I assume you are considering only a range unit like the PB975, so we can't provide advice directly on point. We have a GE unit having the "single-double" oven configuration of the PB975, but in the form of a "single hole" wall oven that takes up the same space as only one of our old double wall ovens. We are very happy with it. You do have to stoop over a bit to look into the lower (larger) oven, but we do not find it to be a problem. We also have the in-wall Advantium installed above the single-double. We carefully selected the mounting heights of the two units so that the controls of the Advantium are not too high and the lower oven is not too low.

I bought all my appliances through the GE friends and family store online. So far I have not had any problems, which is good, but it means I can't comment on their service. The couple of times I called with questions or concerns they were quick to help and courteous. So far we have had the induction range and DW about 17 months (range is my favorite, LOVE it! DW is a close second), and the fridge just over a year. Advantium is here waiting for install this week. I was hesitent to buy online too, but the prices were too good to pass up, and I figured buying right from the company should make things easier, I hope.

I also didn't find any deals on that speed oven. I've bought many appliances from AJ Madison, great customer service, quick shipping. With problems, we have dealt with them sending out local repair guys, arranging appliance return etc. Yes, a little more of a hassle than buying local, but not bad. Get ahold of a sales rep and write an email asking for a year end deal etc...they have always adjusted the price rather than just adding into your shopping cart on the website. My local appliance store quoted the 240V for $2400 while HD has it for $2799.

I have the ge advantum 102. This is my 3rd one in 20 years. Purchased last one in 2014. Broke in aug, 2020. Panel board and other parts. It is now oct 20th and I’m still waiting for the parts.? Ge has offered to replace parts for free but who knows when they will be available. Was told by customer service rep. They r welling to replace the unit when transferred to another dept. was told no. Does anyone know how to get ge in Boston. Don’t believe how this has been handled. I have all ge appliances and I’m totally dissatisfied with how this is been. Handled.
