Show me where you store your everyday dishes.
Comments (23)We have 2 5' long reclaimed shelves that store our everyday plates, bowls, coffe cups (though my 8 week nursling disagrees with caffeine), little plates (need more of these), and canister set I use often. Love the easy access to get and put away: My almost 4 year old has her own drawer close to the floor. She gets and puts away her own "dishes" Finally we use these glasses on a daily basis for our brita: Love how easy it is to access everything. Our open shelves do at times look a bit barren when both dish drawers are full....See MoreWhere do you store your everyday plates, bowls & cups?
Comments (54)Dreamingnh, thanks for the additional website! Amazingly the inset drawers seem to look nice in both the recessed look or the slab look. I am also glad I started this thread since I think it is helping all of us and I love seeing what everyone is doing to make their lives easier. 3mutts. Thank you for letting me know that you have so many drawers and went with the slab drawer for ease of cleaning and the clean flush look. Bmorepanic, that sounds very convenient your layout of the shelves and the recessed wall for the glasses and mugs so are easy to reach for and to put away. circuspeanut, thanks for letting me know that you have your cabinets at 16" and you love it to reach everything. An installer was here for an estimate and I told him I wanted the cabinets lower and he said I could do it but first find out how much extra crown molding I would need and what the cost would be if I still wish for the cabinets to reach the ceiling. I am definitely going to look into this since I would love for the cabinets to be lower. I have a tall blender but I can just place the blender on the open counter that has no cabinets over it since it is open to the family room with a half of a wall in between (so far three cabinet guys want to know if I want to extend the granite counter there to put stools there but it will lessen my walk way so I prefer not to and not to increase my granite costs). Thanks for letting me know there is not code regulation for the height of cabinets over a counter and not over a range....See MorePlease Show Me Your Cabinet Under Your Large Single Bowl
Comments (6)We have the Silgranit single bowl, right sided drain in Metallic Grey. LOVE it. Moen Arbor Motionsense faucet centered, soap to right and disposer air switch on far right. If food bits don't all go down I just use the pull-down sprayer and spritz out the sink. The sink is slightly angled down toward the drain so it seems to work fairly well. I made the decision to go with the Silgranit after lurking here on Garden Web for months and I am so glad I took the advice of the many wise contributors. I had purchased another faucet but changed my mind and am so happy with the Motionsense. It is amazing... Good luck! Ps--this is prior to the window trim going in and the cabinet doors and drawer faces being installed. We're about 90% finished with our reno. :)...See MoreWould you please show my your extra large art?
Comments (26)I have a couple of huge schoolhouse maps, the kind that pull down like a window shade. Each one is about five feet across, very colorful, only $60 each at the junktique shop. A really powerful quilt would also work. Or a supergraphic painted directly on the wall. Or stencils. Or take some photos, and blow them up to huge size at a reprographic place. Maybe a photo of each person in the household, blown up to at least 3' x 3', then stacked vertically. In fact just repainting with more color would do the trick. That way you can wait for the perfect thing, instead of just buying random items to fill the empty space....See Moreginny20
