Need help with floor tile for new kitchen
Comments (8)I don't think you need dark flooring just because you have white cabinets. If you google "grey tile with white cabinets" you can find examples of various shades of grey tile paired with white cabinets (found several on Houzz right off) to see what appeals to you. Personally, I like it, but I'd also like it if the flooring was just a tad darker, but not so dark that it clashes with the adjacent dark wood flooring....See MoreNeed help deciding white or dark kitchen cabinets with tile floor
Comments (16)With the open concept, I don't think it matters that one corner of one room has dark cabinetry. You can have light walls and backsplash. Which floor plan are you doing? I prefer the first tile. It looks like it's got gray and beige, which will be easier to work with than the peachy tones of the travertine. That's kind of a Tuscan tile, which was popular in the 90s and still, unfortunately, is hanging around in tile shops. My goal would be to tone down the reds of the Bordeaux by letting the granite be the warmest element in the room. Ideally you want to go look at slabs and bring a sample of both floor tiles and the cabinet doors. You'd want to pick a slab that has a lot of cream like this one....See Moreneed help for black & white kitchen -floor tiles to be replaced
Comments (3)I would be more concerned that the black/charcoal tiles will be a maintenance hog of your time. It will show every speck and crumb in the kitchen. You will be constantly swiffering, or you will be looking at the crumbs against the dark floor. if you want the charcoal family for floor color, what about going more to the gray end of that spectrum rather than black?...See MoreI need help with coastal kitchen lighting.
Comments (11)First: are those your barstool and table? That makes a difference. Second The placement of the light over the island is not so good, low ceilings and a raised bar are creating crowding. I would opt not to have a hanging light there and let the dining fixture be the centerpiece. Convert that light into a can light and possibly add one on each side of it to give you overall better lighting. But if not I would do a simple flush mount. The kitchen is very busy and the view needs to be the star so I would pick simple over anything. Look how much the view came back into play when I eliminated the "clutter" of the lights...See Moremtnrdredux_gw
