What a neat tile! I love the blue-grey-browns with your other elements. I think it gives you the beachy feeling you are looking for and doesn't clash with the oak floors. It's going to look beautiful all together! Good luck!

I would say though, that mixing two woods, even if one isnt really wood, seems a little risky to me.

That looks very very similar to the Daltile Timber Glen I'm going to use throughout my living area (different color). I personally like the bluish/gray color. Now to speak to riverspots point... I do live in So. Florida so beachier works for me. The color I chose is HIckory which looks very much like the color of driftwood.

I saw this tile in a SL idea house last year. Here are the photos I have of it next to white cabinet/toilet. You'll see the adjoining floor was a blue carpet, which certainly brought out the the blue in the tile.

I'm with mtnrdredux. I would not put a wood or wood-look tile next to a different wood floor. Why not just put the same wood throughout? If you have the floor switch to tile when you enter the kitchen it needs to look sufficiently different from the wood to make sense. What about a slate-look porcelain or ceramic? That would look beachy/coastal.

If sunlight will dwell on the tile for a portion of the day, the darker one will collect and retain heat better--more useful for passive solar--free heat! Even in summer the dark color will take in the heat and tame the air heatup and will release the heat at night when the air is cooler--to even out the day/night disparity in summer rooms. (Plus you should shade those south-facing windows in summer--honeycomb shades? landscaping? overhang? etc.) And in summer you can put a seasonal rug over the dark tile to cut down on heat retention if the floor seems overly warm in places where sunlight touches it.
