Sorry, hope this works.

I do not have a color recommendation, but I think you should paint the cabinets what you like. They say that things go in 10 year cycles, and gray in design is very popular right now. So, you will probably be safe painting a soft gray. The cabinets look like white with a gray tone, so this is fairly neutral.

Did you look at SW Shoji White (7042), which is on the same strip as Intellectual Gray? How about SW Nuance (7049)?

do yourself a favor: have a few pints of different shades you think you MIGHT like mixed and paint a sample board. make sure it's large enough to give you an accurate idea of what the color actually looks like. try 2x4' boards. i don't go by the tiny little sample chips as they are VERY deceiving.
you will never get an accurate idea of color from a magazine. there are too many variables to deal with: paper weight, ink absorption, to name a few. you simply cannot expect that a color you see in print is a true representation of actual color.

We have BM Edgecomb Gray (HC-173) in several rooms (including our new kitchen where it may or may not be the right color) and it looks a lot like your picture. A grayish brownish neutral, but light. I love it in our bathroom but it's maybe a bit too neutral for the new kitchen. It may be slightly browner than what you're looking for. Bedford Gray is still available as a Martha Stewart/Valspar color at Lowe's, by the way. It's quite a lot darker than your picture but it's a lovely clear gray.

I can't wait to see our cabs now..the color we chose is very close to your pic.. I first found the color from Olympia paints called Whispering Wind and had the paint shop match it with BM paint. HTH

Kateskouros- your absolutely right about painting bigger samples. I'm off to the paint store today to get lots of samples. BM has those bigger squares of paper that show the color. Think that would work or should I still paint the samples myself.

I may chicken out with the darker color and stick to cream. The cream the cabinets maker had is way to yellow for me, so If I could get something a little more neutral that would work too. Who knows maybe I'll see a sample I love in the grey/greenish color. All I know is that I am driving Dh crazy with all of this. He just wants me to pick a color!!!

Remodel1958- can't wait to see your cabs. When do they come in? What else are doing with them? countertop? floor etc?

I prefer paint samples to the big sheets available from BM. You can paint a whole board and tape it right over your existing cabinet. Our local BM dealer will mix a 4 oz sample in any color. It's not cheap (about $5 per sample) but it's not as wasteful as quarts.

There was a thread not long ago on creamy whites that weren't yellow and everyone seemed to love BM dove white. I purchased a sample and sure enough, it was a lovely true cream color, no yellow, no pink but very warm. I, too, was looking at gray but totally chickened out. I do love it, though.

I'm going for an overall neutral tone with the light grey cabs, white trim, darker granite (greens/blacks/tans) and stainless steel appliances. Pulling it together with a natural splitface stone backsplash (colors include creams, sand, light to dark greys) and medium/light oak flooring. I'm hoping the neutrals will be a nice backdrop to my Blenko colored glass collection. But mostly I'd just like to have a DW again!
