Two more induction questions - what's important and what's not?
Comments (33)For those of you who have Miele induction, do you by chance also have a Miele oven? I am leaning toward either the Miele or GE induction..but I do like the individual timers on the Miele and the stop and return feature if you have to step away. I like the price on the GE! I'm also leaning toward the Miele Combi Steam oven and will need a 30" regular convection oven too--but not sure if another Miele is the way to go. Would love input....See MoreKitchen Island Cabinet Cost
Comments (1)Islands have to be finished 360. Cabinets in a perimeter run don't have finished sides or backs. Fiishing off the sides and backs costs as much as buying extra cabinets. Islands that size, I'd expect to cost 2-5K in a mid grade line. Depends on door style and the options chosen. Drawers or specialty cabinets like pullouts will be more, plain cabinets with a single top drawer and doors will be less. Sides with integral door panels will be more, veneer applied end panels will be less ( and won't age as well) Same with the back panel, a simpleveneer will cost less than a wainscotting panel. Corbels can be $100 or $350 or $500. There are levels of pricing for every choice. 3K isn't the cheapest that it could be, but it is no where near the most expensive that it could be. If you've got some drawers, and plywood finished ends, and some simple corbels, that would be about right with those upgrades and one of the less costly full overlay doors....See MoreAs promised - More pictures(lots)
Comments (35)a2gemini, my utensil drawers are 36" wide, but the inside drawer dimension is actually 31". Those bins look good! I do agree about the odd sizing. I had to buy a few of each size and lay them out to see how they would fit. Looks like you managed to almost completely fill the drawer. You do lose just a little more space due to the thickness of two adjacent bin walls, but I like the way they look and the ability to clean them up. For me, the key was to group like items in each bin. So for example your two small bins right in the middle with measuring spoons could all be in one slightly larger bin, if such a bin exists. I would even combine them with the measuring cups directly above them. One 6x12 bin would probably hold all your measuring utensils perfectly as it did in mine. But, you have to go with what fits in your drawers. I found that fewer of the big bins wasted less space that a whole bunch of the smaller ones and the organization didn't suffer at all....See Moreout of the abb and into the abt2
Comments (46)Jody Jean - Your kitchen was my first inspiration - and you helped me along the way! Thanks!! Glad I could find your email. Sandesurf - I posted on your question - but bet you found the answer on here - Grazia Rixi Crema with Tec antique white grout Phoggie - Funny story on the color - couldn't figure it out and had to make my decision - everything looked like I tried to match the floor and failed. I walked into a series of cabinets at the KD store and said - Perfect - sometimes you just know it when you see it! Oh - Brookhaven Autumn Cherry with black glaze. Momo7 - Wow - and thanks!!!!...See Morepeonybush
