Marine edge Stainless Steel and integrate sink for $$$?
Comments (3)Our stainless counter portion of the kitchen is comprised of two pieces. One simple 12x28 deep piece on the left of the stove (with a six inch backsplash in stainless as well) and then the larger piece which is roughly 8' to the corner and four foot to the edge (a little L shape). Again with the six inch backsplash. We will have an integrated sink mimicing the very expensive franke sink I purchased that won't fit the corner application. (We're using that in another house). They would have used the franke sink and made it seemless to the countertop, but given that we now need custom, they'll do a similar sink with some chopped corners in front for me at an additional cost of about $400 (16 gauge SS with a pattern....basically swirls of scratches all over it). It will also have an integrated drain board to the sink (sloped). Total cost is around $2500 with sink. And yes, we're doing a marine edge. That's half the joy of SS to me (since my DH is a slob cook...fabulous...but slob). We see this portion of the kitchen as the work horse and we want it to be easy to clean. I am doing a bit of a modified marine edge (a little less of an edge than you really need on a boat, but basically marine). Would I pay the extra money for the sink...oh ya. That whole countertop should be seamless in my opinion. Mostly for looks...but also for ease in cleaning. A good fabricator shouldn't have any problems with that. We also used the same fabricator to build our hood housing so I expect a great job (the hood is gorgeous if you can call a 58" hunk of steel gorgeous LOL). Anyhoo, do the marine edge...but if the high edge is a turn off, they can do a bit of a lower one easily....See MoreStainless sink with drainboard - love or hate??
Comments (7)i have two of them...one has double drainboards and is actually an entire counter. it's great. the other is an ikea one set into a wood counter. it functions well, but the stainless is not as high quality. the elkay one is very very nice...out of our budget. one thing...in order to install the ikea drainboard sink, we had to cut out the counter underneath the drainboard as well....don't know if you would have to do that. both drainboard sinks have a slight slant to the drainboard so that there are never big puddles..one has depressions to drain water away, the other has little ridges so that the drying items are up away from the surface. kren...See MoreLooking for double stainless sink with drainboard
Comments (5)Some options at the link although the double bowls are not equal sized. I can't vouch for the company or the quality of their product but the prices are very attractive. I've linked to them a few times in the past and have noticed that out of stock items are usually restocked fairly quickly....at least, according to the website. Here is a link that might be useful: Drainboard Sinks...See MoreStainless steel sinks with integrated cutting board, colander?
Comments (4)We have a 30" double ledge sink from Overstock that has been installed for almost two years. I prep, chop and add ingredients to my mixing bowls here. The mess gets brushed into the sink and you can keep going without having to wipe down the counters. I use the colander for defrosting, rinsing produce, corralling dirty utensils and draining a few small things like my coffee mug and it slides under the board for easy storage. We also found a couple of larger poly and wooden boards that we use for bigger jobs like cutting melons and carving meat. I will definitely have a ledge sink in my next kitchen because it contains the messiest things that we do in the kitchen and is such a timesaver....See Morebmorepanic
