I love the island granite! Is it pink or terracotta or what (I'm having a hard time getting my granite color to photograph true), and is it granite or what?

Sorry, I should have said in the label ROJO ALICANTE MARBLE. Glad you like it! It should be less pink and more terracotta once the enhancing sealer goes on.

Hi Maydl, I am looking for a remnant of your exact marble for a small bathroom vanity! I need 37" by 19" (not standard depth). PLEASE tell me you have some left now that I know who you are. Your kitchen looks fabulous!

Wow, I'm so glad everything is going well for you. Your island looks fantastic. The photos don't show the detail of your counter granite but it sure looks sleek! Hope the installation of your sink, faucets and remaining cabinets go in without a hitch. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished photos!

You granite is gorgeous and I can't wait to see your marble enhanced. I love the configuration of your island! Looks so useful that way.

Astrid, I don't think we used our entire marble slab for the island. I called the fabricator to find out how much is left, but he didn't get back to me today. If you call me with your e-mail address, I can e-mail a photo of the slab to you so that you can see what the remainder might look like. To be honest, I think we used the most interesting parts.

Neesie, our slabs of the Dakota Mahogany granite have a black base with medium-sized inclusions of various gray tones and terracotta. We've seen other slabs that have less black and more of the reddish tones. Dakota Mahogany is fairly common, so you could probably find a photo on one of the more comprehensive stone Web sites. I wish I could post a link, but I don't know how to link to any site except Photobucket.

How great to see Rojo Alicante being used. My more adventurous side pulled hard in that direction. It's a lovely stone.

Rosie, we can hardly keep our hands off the Rojo Alicante. We find ourselves sneaking off to the kitchen to just look at it.

What a nice kitchen! You must be very excited. I know what you mean about sneaking away to look at your beautiful stone. My cabinets are still in their boxes in the garage, but DH brought one of the glass cabinets in the house so that I can "touchy feel" it every day! He thinks I'm nuts!

Loving your kitchen, but honestly, I could take that island counter and nothing else. It is gorgeous! It's nice to see something different, especially if it looks great too. Best wishes on your finished kitchen. I'm looking forward to seeing the final pics.

Thanks so much, gneegirl! I hope you like the color change in the marble once it's sealed, too. Tiling of backsplash and floors starts tomorrow, I think. We should be finished and moved back into the kitchen by the end of July.

Beautiful stuff! Rojo Alicante is gorgeous- my husband has several large conference-sized tables for sale with Rojo Marble tops- they are amazing.

Glad you like it, whitneymac. The Rojo Alicante was the first thing we picked for the kitchen, along with the Dakota Mahogany granite and the backsplash/floor tile, which you'll see in a future photo. The rest of the kitchen was chosen to go with those three features.
