Can induction cooktop be installed above two side by side ovens?
Comments (2)repac, yes it can be done, and we did it, eleven years ago, and it continues to work today. But our preplanning involved reseach into the vertical dimensions and the required clearances of the units that we installed. If you commit to the brands and models first, you may find that you lack sufficient vertical clearance. The depth (under counter) of currently available induction cooktops ranges from about 2 inches in a few models to as much as 18 inches in one model. Also, it happens that the thinnest, most pancake-like, induction cooktop (the LG LCE30845) vents above the counter (at the rear) instead of (as is more common) into the space under the cooktop, and so requires minimal clearance above the top of the oven. The LG is only 30" wide, however, so you would need two of them to fill your 60" wide space. Not surprisingly, there are also large dimensional differences among models of wall oven. We chose a Bosch HBL645A UC (since replaced in the Bosch line-up) specifically because it had a compact vertical dimension, and even allowed us to install a shallow storage drawer (for unused oven racks, etc.) under the oven....See Morepull out above wall oven
Comments (7)I am putting 2 of these above my fridge - full extension, the depth of the fridge. I plan to put cereal in one, paper towels/tissues/napkins in the other. Mine won't have a shelf, as the photo shows, so the vertical pieces will go all the way to the top. I have tray storage elsewhere. Currently, I have a 12"-deep cabinet above the fridge, and we pile stuff on top of the fridge, so to use that space I have to move everything, then get a chair to reach. I am really looking forward to being able to use this space!...See MoreHow to configure doors above oven cabinets?
Comments (16)I could swear I posted a response to rob p earlier but it's not there. I love his idea of no doors. I think a bookcase with a shelf above it for decorative items and some interesting trim would look great!!! But........I have been dreaming of vertical storage for my trays, roasting pans etc and don't want to give it up. Thank you ci lantro for posting that picture. Please don't be offended but I don't like the three door idea now that I see it as much as I thought I would. I think I'll go with the two sets of double doors. It won't be perfect and may bother me a bit, but I think I can live with it. Another case of function over form. Btw, Buehl, I pondered for a long time over your idea to do two large drawer banks under the cooktop (don't know if you remember this) and both DH and I agree it will look great. It also gives me more time to decide whether to get a 30 or 36" cooktop since it won't affect the cabinet order! What we end up with on that run is a 12" pullout, two 30" drawer banks and a 12" half of a super susan. We lose two top drawers but I think it's worth it. Thanks....See MoreWill I Regret this Vertical Storage? (beagles & others)
Comments (15)Fishies - that is our drawer - The dividers are removable - I even managed to slide "shelf" paper under the dividers. I do have to release the levers to open wider to clear the hardware. I have re-arranged it a bit but same principle - It works great - I have a couple items that don't fit this way - 12 inch saute pan - in my Super Susan 8 qt pasta pan with insert - the pasta pan fits, not the insert - and I like to nest them - Super Susan A couple of other saute pans that are big - they are in the lower drawer and stacked (2 of them) Griddle - it actually does fit, but makes me nervous - so above oven - but might come home. In the lower drawer - I also have our blender, egg cooker, tea kettle, mini chop etc. Love the flexibility - still deciding exactly how things should live. On the other side - I have my baking dishes and some cake pans in a similar manner. And on side 3 - the food storage containers live - no more avalanches!! Most of those are stacked on top of each and not sideways. Not as pretty as Beagles - but it is functional....See Morecheri127
