We have recently chosen KraftMaid cabinets for our kitchen with the Canvas (no glaze) finish for the main cabinets and the Praline finish for the island with raised dining bar. My floors are a dark handscraped hickory. The walls are a warm yellow. We are going with the Sensa granite, but we are unsure of which color would look best with both finishes. Any suggestions? Pictures?

I do love colored cabinets. Sorry you're not getting what you want. I wanted white too, but we are just too dirty around here. What I wanted to say is that if I'm not mistaken, svelte sage is the closest match to Farrow and ball's French gray. There is a kitchen that all of us love with a french gray island. This is one of my favorite kitchens ever and if there is even a remote chance that yours looks similar. I think you'll be very happy! They used wood (not sure if you're interested in that) and it looks beautiful. That thick wood top is sooo pretty! Actually, the other wood doors are very similar in color to the ones you picked out with a golden something or other granite on the tops. I think that marble would be gorgeous if you can handle the pressure if it. :) There are some quartz tops that look very similar. You might try that. I'm not sure if I'd do soapstone (though would be pretty too) if you're worried about darkness in the kitchen. Try not to worry too much. I know the whole process isn't the greatest. For me, it was a combination of both. I knew I wanted light countertops regardless of cabinet color, either granite or quartz. I knew I really wanted white cabinets deep down but wasn't sure if it was in our budget so I also looked at stained options just in case. Before we knew pricing, we picked out our favorite quartz counter and also went to a slab yard and only saw one granite that we both liked. We did this so we could make a decision right away once we found out pricing. We figured if they were close to equal in price, we'd have to really think about which one we liked more, but if one was quite a bit cheaper we'd choose that one. Once we found out pricing we knew we could do white cabinets (with stained island) and ended up choosing the granite because it was about $1,000 cheaper and we liked both of our choices almost equally. I would probably visit some stone yards first to see what kinds of granite/quartzite/marble you have available to you in your area -- we don't have every option available that I've seen online so that right away narrows it down a little. If a few catch your eye, take photos of them or write them down. If you fall in love with a slab...you can then determine whether you're okay with basing your cabinet selection around the stone, or you may realize that you want to keep looking because you do want those white/gray cabinets afterall and this stone wouldn't work well with painted cabinets. Going out and physically seeing the stones makes it so much easier to me -- I saw so many online that I loved but when I saw them in person I couldn't believe they were the same!

We are also having a tough time! We are doing a remodel and have canvas colored cabinets with a white oak floor, but will have a woodblock island in brazilian cherry. We are thinking about something like a Viatera Minuet, which looks a little more like your Silestone Pietra or Viatera Cortina (HD exclusive). We have a light gray linen backsplash. Did you end up making a decision? Our concern is whether the Cortina or something in that range would look to light with the Canvas cabinetry.
