Need help with paint colors (long post with pics)

We're really struggling with choosing paint colors for the dining room and kitchen space (including a "butler pantry" type space and powder room). We're in the framing phase but sheetrock is next week, then the start of painting so we have to make some decisions. GWers opinions needed!

Here's the former dining room, viewed from the entry, kitchen to the left, opening to living room to the right. The light is an art glass piece that we would like to accent. We will be keeping the wainscoting on remaining dining room walls.

Here is the dining room viewed from the living room, looking into the kitchen.

In the remodel, the wall between the dining room and kitchen has been moved 2' into the dining room, and opened up, with only 2.5' remaining on either side. The opening will look into an L shaped kitchen with creamy white cabinets (BM timid white) and Antique Persa granite (colors similar to a dark santa cecilia) on the center 5x5 island and perimeter. Behind the island there will be a lower cabinet run, a Modernaire ORB hood above an induction cooktop, two narrow cabinets flanking the hood, and windows on either side of those upper cabinets. On the kitchen wall to the right there is a window, 3 upper cabinets, then a paneled refrigerator that is adjacent to dining room wall. To the left there is an opening to a small (5x6) butler pantry like room with lower cabinets and granite top, then a small powder room. New kitchen floor will match the floor pictured in the dining room. It is sort of a chestnut color. Kitchen backspash will be a matte ivory subway tile.

There is not a lot of wall in the kitchen area per se, one corner to the back right of the kitchen and walls above doorways on the left. There is wall above the counter in the pantry and in the powder room.

We assume that we should use the same color for the dining room and kitchen (+ pantry and powder room) since the dining room and kitchen will be more of one common space. I had envisioned a dark neutral gray/green for the kitchen but we don't see that in the dining room. We like the rust tone we have (or had) in the dining room but I don't want a rust kitchen (or do I?).

A friend who is a designer suggested BM weimeraner (AF 155), a warm brown, either throughout both spaces, or possibly just in the kitchen with BM tumeric (AF 350) in the dining room.

Other colors in the house, BM lenox tan in the entry way, and BM waterbury cream in the living room and sunroom (seen through the pocket doors from the dining room). We have other BM historic colors in upstairs rooms.

Ideas please!
