That is exactly what we are concerned about. The new sink should be here in a day or so. We are hoping it will be a bit bigger than the old one but if it is smaller we will have a gap. If that happens we may need to find another piece of gumwood and re-make the front panel-- we really do not want to have to do this. But we recognize we may have to. We are getting this gumwood from the center panels of old doors that we buy at salvage. We learned the hard way that it is the only way to match the old gumwood that is already in the kitchen. The front panel that is under the sink is contiguous with the two stiles that run down on either side of the two doors in the cabinet below the sink. My DH took such pains to craft it and we are sick about the possibility of it not fitting the new sink.

I don't generally go about cheerleading for retailers. However, when I find a business to be exceptional, then I am excited to share that news with others. My experience with Home and Stone is that they are exceptional! Since I live in Brooklyn I typically deal with them as a walk-in or by phone. I've bought several items from Home and Stone, including one of my happiest purchases -- a Rohl Shaw's sink. As usual, the price was phenomenal, the product flawless, delivery was quick and without problems and the customer relations were excellent. If you're looking for a great all around deal on a Rohl sink (as well as other items), I highly recommend this business.

Min 30" Rohl Shaws sink has one too..on the left back side near the bend. It showed up a few months ago (about 18 months after install). We also have a small hairline crack at the drain flange which showed up a few months after install. We installed about 20 months ago. I'm also wondering the same thing as you. They are definitely only in the top glaze...not through the whole sink. Barely noticeable. I don't see it as a reason to replace the sink...but I am also wondering if this is part of the natural "patina" for this kind of sink.

My measurements are similar to inmydreams, Francy. This may be a case, for you, of buying this product locally, from a place that will let you return it if it doesn't work out for you after trying it out on your own sink. I hate returning Internet purchases, because often there is a fee or more shipping costs involved. As I said, I love my grid, and have had no regrets in the two months we have been using our kitchen. Like other posters, I too have stained mine with tomato sauce, or any tomato products, but I have sprayed the grid down with that Clorox bleach spray cleaner, left it on a few minutes, and the stains have disappeared after rinsing. If the stains are old, it may take more than one application. We eat pasta dishes often, so those stains are a real possibility. But I try to be careful and I have told my kids and my husband that when we have tomato sauces in our meals, they are to clean off the dishes right over the drain opening, and if not, they are to use the side sprayer to immediately remove the tomato from the grid. So far, everyone is on board with this, and we have no permanent stains. If you don't like the look of the grid, you can always remove it, but I never have. We had a New Year's Eve party, and our dozens of guests loved the new kitchen, and several commented on what a great idea the grid was. I'd much rather protect my sink than not. I don't find it either unattractive or that hard to maintain. Hope this helps.
