I don't know anything about Brookhaven, but Cabico was my second choice (ended up going with Crown Point). They really are a great value for quality custom cabinetry. I agree that their paint finish is very nice and they can definitely custom match a paint color for you. I liked Dove. They also let you specify what percent sheen you want on your painted finish.

There are several members here on the forum including myself who favor the painted finishes as well as the construction and even stained doors of Medallion/Schuler. And, there is also Wellborn, who has beautiful painted finishes as well. The manufacturers that I just listed are more in the mid-range price point, so they are not an apples to apples comparaison to Cabico and Brookhaven, which are more of the high-end cabinetry. You might want to do a search on these cabinet lines and you will see some examples of painted finishes. BTW, Schuler and Medallion are the same cabinet company. Lowes markets Medallion cabinets under the Schuler name. There may be other subtle differences, but for what I wanted it didn't matter.

I have Schuler cabinets on order from Lowes in their Morel Vintage finish (cream with a subtle wheat glaze) and a run of peninsula cabinets in the black heirloom finish and they should arrive in the mid-June time frame. I also looked at Wellborn, Cabico, Jay Rambo, and Omega, but these alternatives were anywhere from 2K - 10K difference in price. I wasn't willing to pay that much more for the incremental improvement of the overall product, as I also have a structural change to consider in my kitchen remodel. Just to give you an example, the Schuler range hood was $2,400 versus $5,000 from Cabico, which I thought was way out of line. The difference is that Cabico considers a range hood a custom item, where Schuler offers them in their catalog. Schuler can also make modifications to any of its components making it a pretty versatile line.

Schuler also has multiple crown molding options. I don't feel that I skimped at all by going with the Schuler cabinets as I was able to get several features such as catalyzed conversion varnish finish, all plywood construction, full-extension glides, soft close mechanism on the uppers and lowers, a trash/recycling bin, a bread box, drawer dividers, tray dividers on top of the refrigerator, two Super Susans, and six inch crown molding all the way around. The Schuler drawers were constructed with a thick board.

I think you will find that the above mentioned cabinet lines all carry a variety of white and cream painted finishes to choose from. Each manufacturer is slightly different, so you really need to find one that speaks to you. Initially, I loved the Cabico door, but when I took it and looked at it in my kitchen, I felt the brush strokes to be too regular/perfect for my taste. I almost went with Wellborn cream and brown glazing, but in the end, I liked the Schuler door and glaze the best because the cream and subtle glazing just looked aesthetically pleasing to me in my kitchen space. Schuler just added yet another white to choose from: a white chocolate color. So, a lot depends on your budget, your taste, and what you are willing to pay for.

If it interests you, I believe Brookhaven (and some other lines) will sell you completely unpainted cabinets too, at I think a 10 percent discount, that you could have painted to your heart's desire. (I shopped months ago. It's all a little foggy now.)

Only drawback is they come with with no warranty, because they don't know what crazy solvent paint "treatment" you might slap on and suddenly the cabinet dissolves. But it was explained to me that they would honor any "damaged in transit" problems and normal stuff like that. Just don't try to claim your blowtorch "patina" project was their fault.

It's another option anyway.
