Cab color/floor color suggestions needed (pics)

I finally decided to go with hickory cabs with a black island. What I need are suggestions are floor coloring to match the wood and opinions on whether to have the flooring match the cabs, or contrast. I'm not sure about having too many different stain colors going on though, but I'm willing to be convinced if someone has a good argument for going that route.

Here's what I'll have - Wood flooring similar in color to my medium toned cabinets. All the wood floors on my main floor are the same stain shade, and my floorplan is fairly open. I don't have a photo for you as my kitchen is a wreck. We're halfway through the remodel, but I can say already that it's a very monochromatic look. I'm relying on the granite, a beautiful floor runner and wall paint for a little drama. Like you, my island will be different. Mine will be painted ivory.

I would either lean to the bottom row left hand side for a more monochromatic look like boysrus2 said or, the natural stain for more contrast. My wood floors(that I am keeping) are close to the natural color in your sample. My island(as of today and subject to change) will be a quartersawn oak in natural and my perimeter cabs will be black(also subject to change). So my contrast will be the black and natural floor. If you go with the natural floor, both your colors will contrast vs. only the island if you stain the floors similar to your perimeter cabs.

Are there any easy decisions?? LOL!!

Hah! I've met someone more mixed up than I am! LOL I only have 2 counters and 2 different hardware styles (5 different pieces). All of these kitchens have warmth and personality -- they look like functional but loved and comfortable spaces -- at least to me. Not one looks like anyone ran out of money and couldn't do it "right" or designed with a hacksaw. I do remember seeing a trend before we did our kitchen -- semi-random contrasting finishes and/or trims. Some of what I saw then, especially in displays, did not come off so well. I think that is what most folks are afraid of -- that or getting tired of the color or combination.

I keep reading that the side panels are handled differently since they are veneer. Also, what do you think of a de-glosser as opposed to sanding?

I will pass on something my cabinetmaker said. (I got cherry cabs from him.) I told him I was so excited to get rid of my painted cabs, because I was always washing them. Although, I said, they weren't going to be any less dirty - I just wouldn't notice as much. He said his own personal preference was for wood rather than paint. He said that when you have paint, you're looking at the finish, so anything on top of the finish or any mar in the finish (like chips, etc.) you see more. With wood, you see through the finish to the grain of the wood, so you aren't looking at the surface. I thought this was pretty insightful, and probably true. Paint lovers, don't jump on me. I have a friend with new white cabs, and she loves them and says they are very easy to keep clean. But mine were 1961 Woodmode that we had painted almond in 1990. Especially around the knobs, we were always touching up, and I washed the doors at least monthly. I don't know if a repaint job can be as lasting as factory enamel. Maybe it can with newer techniques.

Cream would look nice, but what about that soft gold color, in your backsplash, over the stove? It looks almost like a light butterscotch, in your picture. Would that work? It would definitely warm things up, a bit :)

I would go with either of the bottom two for the floors. Either would be a pretty choice. I probably would go with the lighter one on the left as you will already have a black island and you want to show that off, not have it recede into the floor. Also, the black one will show every speck of dust on it as well. So unless you dry mop it every day, you will see everything.
