Grohe Minta / Hansgrohe Axor?

I was wondering if anyone had experience with either Grohe Minta (non-electronic) or Hansgrohe Axor faucets? The models I'm looking at have roughly the same cost and appearance and I was curious about how well the finish holds up, durability and what bits are plastic they may have that should be made from something else.

I am not famalier with those two particular models, but I owned several Grohe faucets, they are very good!

I believe Grohe use all metal parts, while Kohler sometime use some plastic parts. However, for residential normal use, both would suffice. For heavy residential use or commercial use, all metal parts probably will be better.

Cool, thanks. At work we have a TON of Grohe faucets and mechanically they seem to be holding up well, however the cleaners the janitors use around the countertop are bad for their finish. I doubt that home use would cause the chrome to turn dull, and we don't have hard water or the need to use strong chemicals.

Dunno about Axor kitchen faucets; I've used their shower hardware and found it to be awesome though but that was only for a week or two while on vacation. It also has the whole 'not what it's in the breakroom at work' thing going for it.

I actually have the Ladylux Cafe, and while I love the look and feel of it, I strongly echo akchicago's recommendation to try to see the Ladylux Pro in person - as noted, the arch styles can be tricky if you have a deep sink (which I do) or a large sink (which I also do), and the Ladylux Cafe was a poor choice on my part - I have to reach too far to the back of the sink to get to the faucet. Still love the looks, quality and functionality, but if I'd researched a bit better I think I would've gone with something that had a longer spout reach. The Pro's reach is a little bit longer than the Cafe's, so it may not be an issue, but I just figured I'd pass it along! Oh, and in my current kitchen, I chose the Cafe purely for asthetics - I have an old Victorian, and while I didn't want to do a truly old fashioned faucet, I thought the flare on the Cafe added a little more... I don't know, femininity perhaps? But in the kitchen we're renovating in our new house, I'd be more likely to go with a style like the Pro - that house is much less fussy. This is pathetic, but I will probably make a mock up of whatever faucet we decide to go with (along with the sink) and make sure the reach is appropriate this time - don't feel like dealing with this issue again!

It's a good brand. I have one because I was retrofitting a (bad Moen) single hole faucet and decided I wanted one with a super looong spout so my shortness didn't give me backaches using the faucet. A Hansgrohe model was the only one out there. Looks like the business end of the old "War of the Worlds" movie spaceship. I've used with no problems American Standard, Delta, Chicago Faucets, Hansgrohe, and except for that darn Moen that ate cartridges, found them all totally fine. You should find something that YOU like, in the size you want and finish you want, that looks good to you, and as long as it's a decent brand (and you don't have the type of water that kills faucets), you'll most likely be fine. See if you can get it for a better price than your KD online, and don't get carried away. It's just a faucet! No big deal to swap out later.

So... the retracting hose -- it pulls out easily, stays at the length you pull it out to, then retracts easily as well, and, yes, it clicks back into its original spot. It's not self-winding like the cord on the Dyson, you have to use your own arm power to do it, but it cooperates and goes back when it's guided to do so. I've never had a retracting faucet head before, and really like it, it would really bother me if I could not get it back to it's original "clicked in" position and I had to look at it with it's hose peeking/hanging out -- but it doen't have that issue at all, I had feared it would based on the rows and rows of askew pull-out faucets in the kitchen faucet show rooms, but someone on here explained to me that the faucets are weighted when installed, and that makes the difference and is the reason why show room faucets do not "click back" -- they were right, evidently. I pull down the hose nearly every time I use the sink, and it still clicks back easily.

I beg to differ. While the big box, mass merchants may not dictate specifications and certainly whomever isn’t manufacturing “special” faucets, the big box stores do have enough purchasing power to dictate price. As in, “we’re willing to buy a 100,000 faucets but we’ll only pay x dollars per faucet.” It’s up to the manufacturer figure out how to make a faucet at x dollars each and still turn a profit. All too often that means cheaper components and, of course, labor. Then the manufacturer may be required to provide signage (POP), displays, labor to move the displays, and buy-back of merchandise that doesn’t sell. Want some interesting reading, try “slotting fees” in grocery stores.

I have both a Grohe kitchen faucet and an Hansgrohe Axor Stark bathroom faucet. They are both wonderful products that were installed five years ago. The finish has held up beautifully.

I am specifying a Grohe MintaTouch in my parents' house because I am so happy with mine.

I also have had houses full of both Grohe and Hansgrohe (previous home and current home) and I have never had any problem with them holding up either functionally, or with respect to their finishes. I do recall (I think) we needed to replace a thermostat in one shower valve.

Just ordered the hansgrohe talis c in chrome and the Axor Montreux in polished nickle. Am a little concerned with the upkeep on the finishes, but I really didn't like the brush nickle. Will report back in a few months when they are in.

I am a rep for Grohe faucets in NY, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have. As far as durability goes the grohe product is superb. I'm not saying that because i rep for them, but because before I became a rep I was a showroom salesperson and sold it. they offer a lifetime warrantee on all of their products. just make sure you keep the receipt and if you buy it on line make sure it is from an authorized Grohe e-tailer. As for cleaning it do not use any abrasive cleaners IE: soft soap,comet,etc. Dish soap and warm water is fine. hope the info helps.

Well it's a little late because I went with Grohe :)

Easy install though. It only took me 15 minutes.

We have Grohe both in our kitchen and bathrooms for over 5 years and they are excellent quality. Axor is the high end line from Hansgrohe - again great quality. You won't go wrong with either choice.

We installed the Hansgrohe Axor Montreaux in chrome in our bathroom and love it! It is my favorite thing in our house. It is heavy - no plastic parts at all. As for cleaning, a microfiber cloth shines it beautifully!
