Opening up kitchen to family room - need photos, pretty please!

Hi, there!

I'm a relative newby on the house forum, although I was a long-time member on the garden forum long ago (under a different name which I can't remember :( ).

Anyway, I want to open up my kitchen to my family room, and am looking for ideas. I'm thinking that we will have to keep the sheetrock wall on the lower half in the family room to save money, since I'm looking to do this on a budget of only $30,000. I'll be keeping all my appliances except for a new slide in gas range, and retaining most of my cabinetry, which will be repainted. I'll also add more cabinetry - just a small desk area, and a new backsplash, countertops, sink, and hardware. Since I don't have a very large kitchen and the footprint will basically stay the same, I think it will be do-able. If not, I'll settle for doing it in stages. Floor is staying.

Can I see photos of your combined kitchen/family room - greatroom?

Thanks!

Jo
