Where can I find a product like this RH one: professors dbl chair

RH has a "Professors Double Leather Chair" that I think is darling. The problem is.... it is back-ordered and RH has numerous bad reviews about their customer service.

I have looked endlessly at furniture online, but I haven't been able to find anything similar elsewhere... anyone have any suggestions?

I am looking to put this item at the foot of our king size bed. This particular chair works for what we need because it isn't too tall. Anything above 34" or so will block our view of the TV (yes, it's a priority ;)) The chair could be between 47-76 inches wide.... as long as it's under 34" tall.

Also, we want it to be a nice, durable leather.

Have you searched under wing back loveseat or wing back settee?

There is also something called a Grandmother's Wingback Chair. I'm at work and can't recall the manufacturer but I have it on a card at home.

If you do a search under Grandmothers Wingback chair it will bring up a store called Irvins and it is a very 'country-fied' look, however, the actual manufacturer has quite a few a different upholstering options including solids. Not sure if they have leather.

More thanks, firstly to writersblock for a lower cost option and sujafr for the search (and RH) tips. I actually did a search before posting here, and a ton came up - but mostly pages and pages of dining room tables. What draws me to this one is the scale and chunky, solid base and table top...the RL thing - and the price - well, not so much. I'm not sure if it is good or bad news that I looked into it and they do ship to Alaska, for about the price of 2 Ballard baluster bases pre-shipping. I need an interesting piece or two in my soon-to-be renovated LR/entry and this pic just speaks to me. I'd already decided that I'd go with 2 chairs and a table in there and I love this look. Always have, so no fear of being sucked into a trend with it. More like a risk to the pocketbook. ;) Though, I have very few quality, keeper pieces and I haven't ruled it out. I've hated this LR for life and I have had about this amount of money tucked away for the past 10 years from my grandfather's estate - saved for a special piece so I could have a 'heirloom' from him. I haven't decided, but I'm with dazi and petty that this is a great table, and I haven't ruled it out. I was actually glad to find out it is a pic from a catelog of an item that is available, given I was exposed to the image on-line. So often, that is not the case. Options are good. :)

Thanks all for the suggestions! I've been checking consignment stores and Craigslist (Donna--you're setting me up for the CL fail thread, aren't you? hehe!) for wall units and related things. I don't mind used (textiles excluded) and I'm happier with more vintage styles anyway. I have thought about going to the local cabinet guy who has done my last two kitchens. If he doesn't do free-standing furniture he probably would know someone who does. I do know that I don't want this built in. I know I need the storage space and that isn't likely to change, but I don't know that I'll always want it in this location.

Just as a for instance, if you bought a S+P 500 index fund, its performance would be EXACTLY the same as that index it was mirroring, adjusted for costs. Elmer, I believe you misunderstood me. Of course stock *index* funds perform the same as the index they are mirroring. I was talking about nonindex stock funds like mutual funds that are managed. They often underperform the stock indexes. From investopedia: Generally, when you look at mutual fund performance over the long run, you can see a trend of actively-managed funds underperforming the S&P 500 index. A common statistic is that the S&P 500 outperforms 80% of mutual funds. While this statistic is true in some years, it's not always the case. A better comparison is provided by Burton Malkiel, the man who popularized efficient market theory in A Random Walk Down Wall Street. The 1999 edition of his book begins by comparing a $10,000 investment in the S&P 500 index fund to the same amount in the average actively-managed mutual fund. I'm really of no help on this. But took a roller coaster ride searching. I finally looked for "Who makes RH furniture" and came up with a number of sites with interest. All of their furniture is from other resources we know well and less expensive. Plus a lot of it is from Taiwan, which was a bit surprising considering their high end marketing.

Wikipedia noted a number of stores with the same furniture as RH and manufacturers.

Also, a reference to a sofette showed up. Haven't heard this description before.

This Bradington Young is similar in feel, though its arms aren't quite as narrow.

OTH, I love this Hancock-Moore Drake bench and wish I had room for it at the end of my bed.

dee--- you have a good eye. The BY sofa is attractive, looks similar and might fit our space (I need to measure again to see if this larger size would look balanced there and not be too tall.) The only BY dealer we have within a couple hundred miles marks up their furniture a ridiculous amount. Looking online at another company, I am seeing the price is between $3200-3850 depending upon leather choice. Does this sound right? That is a lot more than I was hoping to spend for this space.....

lolauren - I, too, was in love with the professor's chair until I sat in it. It felt like children's furniture, so I hope you get a chance to try it out before taking the plunge.

Clubfurniture.com is an online site that has a lot of the same styles/manufacturers as Pottery Barn and older styles of RH. They have a leather loveseat called the Lawson that's 35" tall. Not as skinny as your professor chair, but it looks quite nice. About $2000, but they have 20% off for Veteran's Day, I noticed.

Crate and Barrel has the Suffolk Settee that would be the perfect scale - except that it is 36" high and doesn't come in leather.(Okay, not so helpful, I know, but it's so adorable!) Their Silhouette is also really nice at 31" high, but it's 80" long so it probably wouldn't work.

dee -- I emailed you, but I figured out who you meant. The other quotes I received for that sofa are around $2200+-.... that sounds much better.

kmcg --- I have seen the chair in person, so I know exactly what you're talking about. It is SMALL. There is no way my husband would fit in the single chair.... The reason I considered the double chair is because we really need something small for in front of our bed. This chair is short enough, yet it would be wide enough for him to sit comfortably.

I measured our space again today and I think 34" high is even too tall to look right.... I'm considering the Fulton sofa dee mentioned, but I'm still searching for some options closer to 30" height for the space....

I think the chairs/sofas in the following photo look decent since they aren't (much) taller than the bed... I'm open to other suggestions if anyone thinks differently. :)

I realize this thread is ancient history but we discovered that the Professor Chair series, among other RH products, is designed and built by Timothy Oulton out of the U.K., which has a gallery in HD Buttercup in Costa Mesa, California. We bought the chair version in Old Saddle Nut leather for my petite wife and she loves it.
