You should choose your colors based upon what you want to live with year-round, and not concern yourself with seasonal decorating. I think blues and greens would be pretty, or perhaps purples and greens. I even like a terra cotta / rust color with those shades.

Susan, yes they are too tall. They should ideally be no taller than than about one inch-maybe 2 inches-higher than the sofa arms. Yours are 6 or 8 inches taller than the sofa arms. Possibly look into having the legs shortened?

You need 9 x 12 in a rug or you shrinnk the space. and some ART on the walls. Ice gray walls and ice gray sofa are generally cool, not cozy: ) Unless you select an accent color you like. ? Add a cocktail and pull some COLOR into the space I'd like crisp white on the wall , frankly.
