Yes, but sometimes it is good to have your answer validated by someone who has already experienced the issue. That is why I love the garden web forums.

Thanks everyone. Mike - Most folk around here are happy to let these fantastic creatures be, except if they decide to reside in the bedroom! It takes great effort to relocate them, but wildlife organisations will help. Hilarious, Purple Star! Now that Lisa, John and Agatha have cancelled, the Tate B+B has some vacancies available for reservation. This week's special deal includes a complimentary bathroom raincoat and umbrella, and free photo of each guest with Monty. (roared laughing at that name, Lisa!) We have no attic as such, and not even a man-hole to get into the roof area - so Monty will just have to toilet-train himself... Cheers, Kerry

I feel for you. We finished our kitchen remodel and thought we were DONE...until I noticed that the lr/dr walls just didn't "go" with the new kitchen. Prior to the reno, the kitchen was completely closed off so no need to worry about coordinating the colors but now, with kitchen open to the lr and dr, it just didn't look right. So new paint for the lr/dr and now the blinds in the living room look sort of yellow against the new paint so we order new blinds. And the hallway off the living room leading to bathroom and bedrooms looks dingy...sigh. My DH decided the lights/ceiling fans don't look right AND he wants to replace the front door, which is now open to the kitchen where it wasn't before!! It's kind of comical when you think about it...pretty soon the kitchen gut/remodel will wind up leading to a complete refresh of our whole first floor!!!

Walls. Oh, dear deity, walls. I can remember buying my first home--as a single person, I was looking at condos. My guess is that 99.999% of condos just plunk the kitchen in a corner of the living room, adding a counter/eating bar to create "separation." My agent had a hard time understanding that I wanted a kitchen that was a separate room. Open concept may be great for entertaining or if you have kids. But I am home alone a lot more than I entertain and I don't have kids. What I want is walls to contain the noise of the dishwasher and doors to keep cooking odors contained. The idea of having the kitchen in the living room and the smells and grease getting into my nice furniture is not appealing. And there's the dirty dishes issues, as expressed by lavender lass. There are mornings I don't have time to wash my cereal bowl before dashing out to work. There are days when I eat dinner and just want to collapse. So while the dishes get done promptly most days, some days they don't. And I don't want to curl up in the living room to relax and have those dirty dishes staring at me from across the room, reminding me that I'm being lazy.

ROFL! So true, all - sometimes just asking the question and reading the responses helps us clarify/crystallize what our subconconscious already knows. Plus, everyone can use a cheering section (or a laugh track, as appropriate!)

The last fortune I got a few months ago said, "Everyone should be nice to you." I read it aloud to my family and of course they cracked up! That wasn't nice. LOL.

I love the one about listening to your whisper. Never heard that before. Great advice.

The best, and most accurate, fortune cookie message I ever opened had nothing to do with decorating. It was:

You will step on the soil of many countries

This was just a few months before I quit my job and spent 6 months traveling through Europe & to Japan. I still have that little slip in the wallet I reserve for foreign travel. It brings me a little jolt of joy to re-discover it before every trip.

I save the fortune cookies for my dogs, last time me and two of the dogs got the same fortune...what does that mean?

I forgot to mention my really fantastic skill. I can open and read a fortune without opening the plastic wrapper. The waiter is always impressed. I only save the fab ones, like this one.

Here's how you do it. Very skilled technique....

take cookie while in wrapper, smash with fist
fiddle with it
read fortune

A while back somebody marketed joke fortune cookies. My favorite, idea for surreptitiously swapping with your dinner companions at a restaurant, went something like:
