Yes....I guess I have too....but not like that drawer....and the rake on the legs pretty well shows it's not too old....and the fact that I see no evidence of the old construction where the spindles go through the arms and are secured with a wedge....forget what that manner of construction is called.....I think I am pretty close with the dates on that piece. And of course I have seen fine hand made bow back, sack back, comb back etc etc Windsors that were made yesterday. Since I am unlikely to find a fine 200 year old Windsor and even less likely to spend the money to buy one, I am dreaming of a new one. I know of one chair maker near where I live that does wonderful work! Linda C

Maybe a chair in a fun color would make it seem more than simply functional. For example, we have this chair off to the side in our living room. I'm not saying this is your style but more that it doesn't scream dining chair b/c of the color. yes, a faux eames chair like the one JudyG posted will look good. keep in mind though, do you need to worry about back pain or anything? I tried using a chair exactly like that for my desk, and it hurt my back. I don't have a problem sitting at it at my dining room table playing board games for hours, but for some reason when it was my office chair, it was uncomfortable. now I use this chair from Ikea. it's not fancy, and the seat is firm. but I like it because it's small, cute, height adjustable, and the firm seat "reminds" me that I need to get up and walk around every now and then. this is a 1-2 hour desk chair, not an all day one. but my lower back never hurts in this!
