Glidden new ultr high gloss mistake sad looking door
Comments (7)Well if there is bubbling, then that is a problem with adhesion. The door should be sanded dull and clean before painting. Was the high gloss paint latex? If it was, then try a semi gloss sheen. You don't really need your door to be that shiny do you? High gloss latex paints are generally not very user friendly to apply....See MoreHigh Gloss Paint for front door
Comments (5)All my doors are now done with the Brilliant. I started with screen doors which look like new after 2 years. This summer I redid the front door with it and the entire front porch (which had 2 y.o. paint & looked terrible) and front trim. We'll redo the trim in back next year. I am told it's expected to hold up for 8 years. The paint also comes in pints. One pint of the blue did all the trim on 2 screen doors and 2 coats of my front door with some left over. It is excellent to work with and has excellent results. If you want the Euro door look (I love the English doors as well) this is the way to go....See MoreTo Gloss or Not to Gloss? High Gloss Cabinets or not
Comments (12)High gloss is not for me. Not because I don't think it can look good in certain applications, but because I would freak out at the first scratch. I learned my lesson (for me only) long ago on furniture and cabinets. In my first home I bought very expensive solid cherry coffee and end tables with a nice beautiful shiny finish. The cat went skidding over the coffee table and left a scratch about ten inches long. There was no way to hide it, buff it out, cover it. I'm better with painted or natural wood finishes that are more forgiving. If you don't have kids, dogs, cats or a spouse, it's probably fine. I remember my nephew once tried to figure out if a piece of jewelry was a real diamond by scratching the glass face of a vintage clock. Yeehaw, it wasn't a diamond but it did scratch the glass......See MoreFarrow and Ball High Gloss vs. Fine Paints of Europe High Gloss
