swanstone shower base with ceramic tile walls?
Comments (3)we did this three years ago when we made a basement bath in our current house. it is used daily as this was a newly built basement suite for my teenager. it was a budget job, and has held up really well, still looks new today. the base was installed first, then purple wall board over new framing. there is a lip that comes up from the base and the cement board was applied to the purple water resistant wallboard with the cement board over the lip. classic glazed 4x4 white 16 cent per tile big box store stock was applied to the cement board, the ceiling of the shower was done on the diagonal. we bought the edge pieces from the same white tile line from the big box store that covered most of the 1/4" of cement board edge and with a thin strip of caulk, met the purple wall board. sandless grout was used with some additive for showers. white calk was applied afterwards to all the inside corners. the swanstone base got a rustish stain on it during the install, as well as grout and tile adhesive. i was able to scrub off the grout and adhesive over time with repeated washing using a nylon brush, but the rust stain persisted. i was able to fade it, but it never disappeared, so i would recommend keeping the base covered when you are doing the install because the swanstone surface is rough/nonslip and seems to be a little bit porous, it didn't give up the construction mess easily. will try and post pictures of the install if i can find them, but this was done two laptops ago, and i'll have to see if i still have them on a hardrive somewhere....See MoreAcryllic shower pan?
Comments (2)Americh is good quality acrylic. Swanstone solid surface is good also - you can search this forum. You probably need to start a new thread for your vanity. Post a picture so folks can help you find what you want....See MoreFixing a hole in acrylic shower pan
Comments (5)"Question: can this hole be fixed so that it will be totally unnoticeable?" Claude-007: You will always be able to find this repair, even if I fixed it and I have an Invicon kit. As I have mentioned in another thread, when the homeowner screws up, my repairs look fantastic, when the contractor does, not so much. The standard you should set is this: "Would a professional home inspector readily find this repair?" If the answer is no, it's successful, if yes, maybe not. I mistakenly drilled some holes on my nephew's new dresser drawers. We bought some flat stainless steel plugs that went perfectly with his pulls to fill the holes. It looked great. Sometimes a contrast is better. How about some pictures? One up close and one farther away....See MoreDoes anyone make CI/Acrylic shower pans with no threshold?
Comments (5)Thanks for the replies. I was not clear with my original question. I am not looking for a curbless entry. I am looking to make my own curb. I'd like a pan that has no curb or entry anywhere, one that you can tile down to the flange all the way around....See Moresergeantcuff
