Selling used furniture on Craigslist
Comments (5)Besides overpricing, one frequent mistake I see in Craigslist ad, is not making USE of the free ad. For example, I often see something like this: "Nice sofa, fair condition. $150. Call for details." The ad may or may NOT have a photo. A much better ad would include 2 or 3 photos, from different angle, maybe with a closeup of the fabric, and read like this: "Very nice 94" long 3 cushion sofa in a silver taupe stripe damask. This is a very comfortable sofa from a clean home. This piece is about 5 years old and we are only selling it so cheaply because we need the room for a new set of furniture. We accept cash only and are asking $100. We are located right off Hwy 41 at the North end of town." You answer most obvious questions in the ad, including measurements and condition. You appeal to the bank account by mentioning that YOU think it's priced attractively. And your photos should tell the rest of the story. I would not comment on pets in the home unless asked. Now. I have a question for you on your pricing. You said, "I have already marked them down $150 from my original price." Please don't think I'm trying to be snide, because I'm not. But if you intended to put them on the curb for FREE, why in the world would you price them so high that you've already marked them "down" $150?? Sofas, used, 12 yrs old, are not in high demand. Put $100 or less on them, fix your ad, and give it another shot. Wish you well...... Red...See MoreOil Marks on Wood Table
Comments (2)You are making me lol. Depends on the wood color/material, you can find paints that cover/fill scratches. Now you have this oil marks on your table, I have no idea how to remove it. Maybe repaint the whole table? Some others might have better suggestion. Good luck...See MoreEthan Allen furniture... comments on quality
Comments (92)We recently spent almost $30K in Ethan Allen, Pasadena on a dining set and two sofas for our new condo. To make a long story short, the dining tabletop had significant flaws, blemishes, chipped corners and holes filled with putty. Don’t fool yourself with in-store samples. Once they have your money, you are stuck with what you get and no one takes responsibility for what has been delivered to your home. The accent pillows that came with the sofas did not match our selected material and did not include the surrounding fringes. Tiffany, the sales lady evidently had not placed the correct order according to our selected material. Despite sending pictures of our selected material to Greg the manager as well as Tiffany, both of them still refuse to take any responsibility and accept their mistake. After spending some $30 K in this store, they refuse to even replace $200 worth of pillows due to their own mistake. When you are in Ethan Allen, you think you’re dealing with a reputable company until the furniture is delivered. If you’re in the market for anything with after-purchase services and warranty, you’ll be better off avoiding Ethan Allen. Their sales tactics are just like entering car dealerships. Never again will I or anyone in my extended family shop at Ethan Allen. Don’t give them any of your hard-earned money. Horrible service, no accountability and their prices are very expensive. They deserve numerous negative stars, if any star at all....See MoreEthan Allen British Colonial Livingston Kitchen Table
Comments (6)We have several Ethan Allen pieces -- and I have no complaints. As I have said before on this forum, you can probably match the quality and pay less, but I keep going back for the styles. My husband and I seem to find what we like at Ethan Allen (and maybe we're just not good shoppers). I have the Cooper 60" round table in my kitchen from the EA custom classics collection (black pedastal with the cinnabar (I think) top). I have had it about a year and a half and it's held up fine. We have the wheatback chairs from the EA maison collection with it (in black with rattan seat). I also have the EA British Classics bedroom set (which I've had for about 10 years now), a chest from the Townhouse collection in my foyer, some EA tango collection pieces in my family room. We are waiting on delivery of a desk from the custom classics collection now -- and I'm considering the Cameron trestle table with Hadley chairs for my dining room. so, yes, I am a satisfied Ethan Allen customer....See Morejen9
