What's that under the sheers? Roman shades? Why not just have the shades and skip the sheers? IMO having both is awkward/bulky and unnecessary.

I agree with sueb20, I like the sheers they tie in with the pillows on the couch in your LR, personally I would ditch the shades, if you dont need them for privacy but both are awkward. Your house is very pretty.

For now -- skip the sheers altogether and simply have the shades! :)

And consider adding a radiator cover -- which would "calm" the visually strong vertical lines that seem to dominate both spaces ....

Thankyou for the ideas. I actually do not like shades solo, I do not like seeing the hardware, but I will try the sheers without the blinds and if that looks better I will find roller shades to offer privacy without adding bulk.
Teacats., we are slowly adding rad covers to all 20 of our radiators but it is a slow process. Hopefully by christmas these two rooms will be complete :).

I do think the ones with the leaves are a bit too much visual activity since you view it from your living room which is soo lovely.

I like the sheers with the leaves, especially in a sunroom. I would bunch them a little more. Maybe expose 3/4 of each window pane instead of just 1/2.

I like the patterned sheers as it looks like the hedges from outside the windows are reaching in.

I agree that making them hang tighter and exposing more window would look better. You can do this by running a string or yarn through the back side of the rod pocket and tying it as tight as need be to get the look you want...won't show from the front at all. But that won't work if you want to close them...but you have the shades so you probably don't need to close them.

Oh Annie thank you so much for that tip! I usually avoid pocket rod drapes for the ends always slip over away from where I want them! I can not wait to try your trick. I am suffering from vertigo at the moment so have to wait for my Antivert to kick in and then I will remove the shades and try Annie's trick and see if the visual clutter is lessened!

I like the leaf patterned sheers with the wall color in the sunroom. You don't have much pattern elsewhere so they add some. I agree they would look a bit cleaner with a roller shade if you really need the privacy.

Roarah, you have a beautiful home and I like your new panels very much. Please be careful trying to hang them, vertigo is awful.

I very much like the leafy sheers an don't find them too busy at all. I also like how they pickup the color of the walls. Couldn't you just bunch them together more without Annie's trick?

I like the sheers but then I'm a big fan of connecting the indoors to the outdoors and vice versa. I can't really tell but it looks like the sheers also tie in with the background of your LR display cabinet (?) and they tie in, I think, with your LR shutters also.

Your sunroom is going to look like a play room for such a short time so I don't think there's anything wrong with having some adult decorating done to the room. If the sheers were in danger of becoming a play toy that would be a different matter.

Your picture brought back good memories of playing with tv trays, card tables and sheets in my mom's family room.

Thank you for all the nice words about my home. It has great bones and I am lucky to live in an area with lots of antique stores, auctions and tag sales.
My Meneire's has got the best of me today so I have not yet removed the roman shades and tried Annie's trick to keep them from opening up so widely. When I do I will be sure to post pics.

Does anyone feel I need two more panels for the long wall or does it work ok as two double windows? I can search other nearby Homegoods, Marshalls or Tj's to see if another store has the panels.

I think you could go either way. Adding more panels (as in pic #1) seems to open the windows more, so you would probably see more of the beautiful greenery of the garden. Maybe you would get that effect by bunching more - love the tip! But I might choose to try more panels to highlight the beautiful symmetry of the windows. On the other hand, it is whimsical and charming as is, which might be just right for you and your play team.

I like them. Maybe a red throw over the back of the dark chair.

The other "trick" I do all the time is, if you have rod pocket panels and a valance, you can just lock the panels where you want them with a clip style clothespin...just clip to the rod where you want the panel to stop...the valance will hide the clothespin.

I like the new patterned curtains! To me they have a nice light quality about them and seem to pull together the beautiful hedges outside with the room inside.

I really like the new curtains. I don't think you have to consider the playroom decor in your decorating (visual) decisions. Most people look past the draped blankets, knowing they are a temp. set up. Maybe it's because I have no window coverings, but I really want to see more of your windows and would take the shades down and try Annie's trick for tightening the space the curtains take up on the rod (and I know you already plan that). I think it would open up the room wonderfully.
