I use my comfortable chair in the master bedroom when I'm reading because it's nice and quiet in the bedroom. I also use it at night as a handy place to stack the decorative bed pillows.

My room is too small for an upholstered chair

I have one that is purely for looks. It's a pretty chair that I inherited and I had no other place for it. I like looking at it but since I live alone, I don't hang out in the bedroom except to sleep and read in bed.

I use mine for reading and as a quiet place to get away when needed. It's also a great place to put on my shoes. I think every bedroom should have one!

We don't have one. We have a bench in our closet for putting on shoes.

There is room for a small chair, but honestly, we live in a 3800 square foot house and there are only 3 of us so there are plenty of quiet spaces to go to. I don't want to buy something just for the sake of it. They do look great!

We have a small loveseat, which is used for small piles of items to be returned to stores, clothing to be tailored or repaired, things to be ironed, etc. Never has anyone placed their behind in this loveseat. It's cute, though! I really bought it because we had an empty space that needed something, and we didn't need more storage or anything else practical, so I got it for its prettiness (and it was super cheap from Home Decorators outlet).

LOL @ SueB20. Your comments are pretty close to our situation since our son and grandson moved in and the love seat among so many other items were moved from their two rooms to ours. I've slowly found new homes for most, but the loveseat is still there at the end of our bed with clothing and other items waiting to be taken care of.
We also have a recliner that is used for nights when reclining because of a head cold helps one of us breath and get a better nights sleep.

Yes, I have an upholstered chair, but I'd like to replace it with a chaise. I think if I had that I'd sit there more often. Right now, it gets the throw pillows every night. When we had a cat, he used to be a regular on the chair...

I have two chairs in my MBR and even though I have the room for them they're really there because I had no where else to put them. Like sueb's loveseat, they're used for pillows, returns, blankets, clothes to be hung and sometimes the cat. Since we have a window seat I use for putting on shoes, I think I've sat in the chairs maybe 4 times in 10 years.

I have a chair like annie's. Dh does tend to drape clothes over it. It is used to sit and put on socks, etc. I sit there and talk on the phone sometimes.

We did - but it became a catch all. So now it's put to a much better use in our FR.

I've always imagined the perfect bedroom with two cozy chairs in front of our fireplace - but unfortunately, I don't think the space is large enough. I'll have to post photos one day and get your opinions!

I have 2 floral wing back chairs in my bedroom that are almost never sat in. I sometimes throw my robe on one when I am too lazy to hang it up. The other one holds a few decorative pillows which seems to be their permanent home unless I am staging my bedroom for company when I put them on the bed.

By the end of the day all I want to do is put my feet up and sit in bed and read or sleep.

I do love the decorative aspect of these chairs as the floral polished cotton upholstery has many colors so gives me the opportunity to change my bedding in several ways. I bought these chairs when I was in my cottage phase so they are not the look I want in my LR any longer but they fit my girly bedroom great. I didn't buy them for my bedroom but they are one of those happy accidents. My walls are a warm spice beige almost exactly like in the pattern and at various times I have used every other color in this floral pattern as accents - blue, green, amethyst, rose.

Our bedroom is quite large (over a 2 car garage). It's my retreat from DH's incessant sports television. I spend a great deal of time there. I was initially intending to put an oversized chair and ottoman in the space, with a table and reading lamp. Then after a weekend in Boston when we stayed in a very nice hotel room that had a sofa and love seat, I decided to buy a very comfortable 3 cushion sofa for our room. I have a long sofa table behind it in front of a bank of windows with a reading lamp and a collection of framed photos. I read there, surf on my iPad, watch tv and often nap. Best decision I ever made. If we ever move, the sofa will probably sell with the house because it was an engineering feat getting that thing up there!!

If I had room for one, I'd use it.

In the other MBR, I have room, but the chair is waiting repair and upholstery.

Our old MBR was too small, but our current one has plenty of room for seating...I just haven't gotten around to it. I am pretty sure I am going to go with the chaise, floor lamp, side table set up vs. 2 club chairs and a table. I can't see dh and I ever both sitting in there to hang out, but I CAN see myself sprawled out like a cat, reading a book in front of my windows....so yeah, pretty sure I am going with the chaise! :)

I have a wing back in a very pale mauve and cream plaid! It's very comfy to sit and lace your shoes up, or watch the fire in the fireplace! I love my wing back, but like others, it's a great place to toss pillows.

We are very casual here in So CA. Our summer beds have nothing but white sheets, pillows, and a light white cotton blanket. It's hot here, even with the windows open!!

Winter, we do that drama thing with the whole matching shams stuff.

We have always had a wing chair in our MBR, but recently I changed it out for a different look. It tends to be a catch-all, but is cleaned up daily. We have upholstered chairs in all our bedroom (sans kids) for guests.

I have a small chair and a loveseat in my MBR. The chair just fills some extra space (and is used for extra seating in other rooms, when needed.) The loveseat is used quite often. When DH is on night shift and comes home to visit me and/or eat, he'll sit on the loveseat while I'm in bed. I spend a lot of my alone time in the bedroom because it's comfortable and quiet; if I don't want to be horizontal, the loveseat is the best choice for reading or TV watching.

Also, ours doesn't end up as a catch-all for anything, but we don't get dressed in the MBR.

It's interesting we all have these habits! We are different, and God made us so! Our master is upstairs. Biggest bedroom ever, with a huge deck out the slider, but the stone fireplace makes it seem so "vacation!"

I still love my upholstered wing, but I'm looking for a sweet love seat/recliner, so we can be warm by the raging fire, with our feet up to get the heat, this winter. We are in So CA, but high on a hill, and we do get snow flakes. They never stick, but brrrrrr!

We have one, very nice and the color and pattern contribute to our overall bedroom decor. We use it- for dumping clothes we will wear again soon, and for decorative pillows from the bed. Couldn't do without it. Actually, we could put the clothes away in drawers or closets, and I could devise some clever bench or something for the pillows, but the chair just feels right.

Yes, chair with small wrought iron ottoman made by my grandfather. Occasionally used for tv, but mostly a catch-all for clothes, pillows, etc.

We have a sofa and a club chair in our bedroom, both of which are used every day. We also have a bench at the end of the bed and a French armchair at a secretary. The only chair we don't use often is the chair at the secretary.

We have an upholstered chair that is used. Also a wooden chair that is not used so much.

We have an upholstered chair and ottoman on one end of the room that here and there is used for pants that need a button sewn on or clean clothes that need to be ironed. Either I or DH use it for reading once in a while.

I also have a small chair near my dresser I use for laying out the next day's clothes, putting on shoes, etc.

There is room in the MBR for both, and they serve multiple functions as well as being nice to look at.

I have an nice cozy chair and ottoman in one corner of the bedroom. There's a nice window with gardens and a bird feeder just outside. A small wicker side table and a tall reading lamp complete the corner.

It's a dandy place to 'run away from home' while still staying at home. Back in my homeschooling days, that chair and cozy corner saved my sanity.

Well you've all convinced me not to put a chair in the bedroom (other than a desk chair). I used to have an exercise bike and it was a catch all. I can imagine what we'd do with a bigger chair.

We have a favorite upholstered wing chair and side table with lamp in the sitting area of our master where we also have a flat screen on a corner stand and windows looking out over the backyard. DH loves that chair and uses it every night. It is not a clothes-drop because he loves watching whatever he wishes on that tv without me changing the channel and he uses it daily. With just one chair I am relegated to the bed when I come upstairs and fall asleep in 2 minutes. I'm happy because the chair/table/tv just fit the space and complete our bedroom décor.

This is my master bedroom sitting room. I have twin boys and this is my get away space. South windows flood the space with light but require heavy draperies to block the light for sleeping. Wonderful place to read. The key is a comfy chair. This is an old chair that I had reupholstered.

I love my chair and my get away space and I definitely use it, even during the day when there is no one home.

I planned on getting one but after reading this, I may not! I have a small wood chair and it is usually buried under stuff -- clothes I threw there before falling into bed, laundry to be put away, "homeless" items. I am sure a larger chair would collect more stuff. I have plenty of places in my house to sit quietly, so I have no need for a chair in the bedroom, although it would be nice to be farther away from the refrigerator.

I have some space for it and I think it would be pretty but I just don;t need a spot to gather more detritus.

I use my chair all the time for reading and surfing on the web when I want to get away from everyone else.

My favorite spot in the house we vacation in is the comfortable chair in the master bedroom where I read and enjoy the view. :)

We have two. This first one is where I sit and iron DH's dress shirt 5 evenings a week. DH sits there and reads some nights, as well.

I have a chaise at the foot of my bed. It serves as a pretty and luxurious looking item that only my dog uses as an easy way to get on and off the bed without the huge jump. It is also where lots of clothes get thrown, or where I set my clothes out if I have to be up at 4:30 am and I need to throw on my clothes and go.

But do I ever SIT or LIE on this beautiful, comfy piece of practical furniture. *racks brain*..... nope. I always default to the bed for whatever reason.

p.s. I often see lovely upholstered swanky looking chairs that would look nice in the bedroom but in my house, things like that just become receptacles for the dreaded...stuff.

We put an upholstered leather (and chrome) bench in our recently "renovated" master bedroom (pics to post someday!). I got it so we'd have a spot to sit while putting on our socks, shoes.... DH would always sit on our just-made bed (made-up by me, of course!) while tying his shoes, right on the nicely fluffed up bed pillows, and then walk away leaving them all smushed!

Also, the spot where we have it just seemed to call for a bench! :)

We don't use it for sitting and hanging out, except perhaps if one of us just sits down for a few minutes to chat while the other one is getting ready to go out or whatever.

Surprisingly, neither of our cats has claimed it as her own!!! They both pretty much ignore it for some reason.

I will be looking for a comfortable chair for my bedroom. Interesting to read the remarks here -- I have a folding chair there (right now covered by a rug and some pillows to add comfort) and I sit in it all the time; it's one of my "go to" spots in the house. I have a pouf on which I put my feet. It's a tight squeeze but really needed.

I have an ottamon in my bed room. Use it to put dec bed pillows and to sit and put on shoes. When my daughter comes over she likes to sit there. I think its different and still cozy. I love it. Lol
