Window treatment opinions for kitchen/great room

Below is a not so great photo of my kitchen and family room.

My kitchen has a bay with hinged patio doors that lead to the back yard. I have roller shades from Smith and Noble on those doors because that side of the house faces west and we get a ton of light in the afternoon, especially in the hot summer.

You can only see one of the windows in the photo, but there is a window on each side of the patio door with wood blinds on them. I covered the topper with fabric so there wouldn't be so much white.

I have a lot of windows in the family room. I hung a swag between the windows but I am thinking I should do something else.

Should a put curtains on the kitchen windows? What if anything should I do with the family room?

Thanks in advance!
