mrsgym, you mentioned the paint was thin and way to sheer. I don't know what brand you may have been using or the color you are wanting for the backblash; but underlayment is when you need to block out the object underneath that you are wanting to paint over. Say for instance there is a big bright red vase and you want to paint a big green apple in front of the vase. It may take several attempts to get a good solid coverage for the green apple but by blocking out the image you are trying to cover up - you will get there in the first attempt. I like using a color called "Taffy Cream". The color is by Americana crafts. It is a solid "opaque" yellow. Very good blockout coverage. The key is using a good opaque color and I find this yellow has worked great for me over the years. Hope some of this helps. The oil cream paint pots, I only use them for architectural type shadings or for shadowing other things. I use the ones by Deco-Art. Boy, those little paint pots can create a total mess if not handled carefully. I guess I am speaking of using these in my customer's homes. I need to be extra cautious.

If you like staging, why not get into it? I purchased my sofa from a woman who did it for a condo complex, and she was busy. She had her 2-guys-and-a-van that she used, and she purchased high quality stuff off Craigslist and then sold it (she didn't do storage). I believe you just have to introduce yourselves to realtors as a kind of internship (prob. super low pay at first, but that's a very positive perk for the realtor to offer his/her clients...Of course you would just have to use the clients stuff if you don't want to "own" anything. Many folks (not you clearly) need an objective third party when getting a house ready to sell (the queries on the subject here are proof of that).

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask this question. I am repainting and then stenciling a wood floor. I am painting the base coat with SW porch and floor enamel. I was wondering if I could get away with the cheaper sample paint for the stencils? I was greedily thinking I could afford to have more colors made then. Or is it such crappy paint that it wouldn’t work? TY

It was a good decision, though, agmss. I believe SW is one of the companies where the sample is not the same formula as their real paint.
