Looks awful to me, but that would be my money. I surely think you could do better than that!

A simple Google turns up the Bradington Young website. They appear to be proud of their leather furniture and offer details about the constructiona and leather grades, ect.. Clicking on their chair link shows lots of distressed leather. It seems to be their signature style.

I could see that CL chair in a Western motif with the right architecture and accessories. It could look right in many styles of decor but not all. It is definately masculine in style and would look great in an urban loft condo with exposed brink and natural floors. I bet a guy would love this chair for a rec room since it certainly does not look "fussy". It looks terrible on that garage floor. Why don't these people consider the background in their photos? They should have tacked up a white sheet behind it and taken the pic.

Hopefully no one else will see the beauty this chair has due to the lack of merchandising in the photo, and they will sell it for a song to you with no other offers coming in.

Not to my personal taste, but B-Y is an excellent brand; I'd say about half a notch below Hancock & Moore, on par with Classic Leather and McKinley. It is not cheap junk, and it's on the pricey side at retail. We have a couch and chair/ottoman from B-Y that we have abused quite terribly over almost 7 years - if it fit better into our current house (was purchased for a much larger LR when we were riding the gravy train) we'd still be consistently abusing it. :-) The frames are very solid, the leather quality is typically very good, construction excellent. Depending on how old the chair is and how well it's been maintained, the price may be reasonable or not - I'd use the dealer locator on the B-Y site to find some local dealers, call 'em up and ask for current pricing on the, oh, model 4841 recliner which is reasonably similar overall. (B-Y doesn't put every model on their website, IIRC it's only about half the collection at best.)

Yes, you could call it distressed leather. What's the style of your FR? If the chair is in overall good condition (sturdy frame) I'd buy it with the intention to reupholstered it in the future since it would be a huge savings vs buying new.

Do as Johnmari suggested and price out a new one. Then go look at the CL chair and make your decision. A treatment of leather cleaner and conditioner can do wonders if the leather is in good shape.

I typically don't really care for distressed leather but I really like the chair. May be the nail trim that's getting to me though. (in a good way!) Looks comfy too.

I've noticed even fake leather chairs on CL seemed to be pricey at times!

DH doesn't like it. Thinks it's rather shabby rather than distressed. Perhaps it's just the location--in the garage?

Here is one at Macy's I had my eye on earlier. DH was not convinced we needed another chair in the room so figured if I could find something not too $$ I could convince him otherwise. Perhaps I should just wait for the new bookcase to come in (hopefully next week) and regroup then. Stick to the plan.

I'm not feeling it for the space. The distressed leather would compete with your beautiful chair. The distressed leather would be another "pattern" in the room and may overwhelm the other nice pieces. The distressed leather look does not go well with crisp white woodwork trim the home has.

The Macy's chair might be too matchy with the ottoman. A chair like that in a soft suede like the couch, and in a color pulled from the pattern in the chair could work.

If DH isn't wanting a recliner, I tend to agree with him right now. Either of those chairs is going to eat up a lot of your floor space, so I think you should get all your other decor done, then consider another chair.

This is getting off topic, but if your rug is large enough, have you considered turning it so that it's on the same diagonal as your sofa?
After moving the rug I'd put the ottoman on the same angle.
Of course, I can't see the rest of the room so it may not be doable!

I like it, and I actually think it would make a nice counterpoint to your other chair. It's somewhat unexpected, which is why I think it would look cool in your space.

I guess my feelings for this chair are about like the feedback I received here: mixed. And for the price I should *love* it.

I am contemplating replacing the sectional for something like the leather sofa and chair below on CL for $2,000. It would solve a lot of my seating problems--having comfortable seating for 4-5 all with good views of the TV. With the set below I would then have a total of 4 recliners--which would be good since everyone likes to relax and put their feet up when we watch TV. Hmmmm.... just need to find a way to convince my DH. Anyone hazard a guess what I could get for my microfiber sectional? We bought it last year from JC Pennies. Don't suppose these folks would be interested in a trade?
