Comments (4)In our projects we see the linear pendants over the island broken up into several smaller pieces so that there isnt such a mass in a area that frequently has peolpe standing around it. An example of this would be on the 84" island I'd encourage our customer to use 3) 9-12" pendants. Laid out in the centerline of the islands width (60"), and then Divide the Length 84"/3. Comments (4)The size has more to do with what tyou ROOM requires in terms of balance & scale. I suspect that if your wall is long and the sideboard is short, then to get this to work you will have to extend the appearance by adding chairs or art or both....See MoreDining Room table vs sideboard

Comments (5)The sectional is placed much better in your second photo, but move your chair to the corner where you have the beanbag. Then you could look for a modern drop leaf table for the wide hallway. It would fit up against the wall most of the time so it's out of the way, along with two chairs, but you could open it out into the space when you wanted to dine at a table.
