Peruvian tapestry in sort of modern-cottagey home?

Could this Peruvian tapestry work in our dining room? My husband and I usually arenÂt souvenir shoppers, but we met a weaver in Peru and well. . .

Our DR is to left of the LR below. Because the rooms are not large, we kept the patterns simple and the colors in neutrals, red, black and a bit of blue. The walls are a light yellow. The black wooden chair is getting replaced by a small taupe upholstered chair.

The opposite end of the LR is a small reading area and the staircase.

Here is the DR. Right now, the tapestry is hanging too low (on existing nails). We envision it hung higher, from a rod, and having some family photos on the left side. We also envision darkening the shiny brass finish of the chandelier and changing the lampshades.

As an alternative, here is what the DR currently looks like. What do you think? If you think the tapesty looks out of sort, we could put it in the upstairs hallway, but we are trying to make it work.
