Door knobs or levers for new bathroom & bedroom doors?
Comments (21)We have a totally traditional house and have levers and they don't look modern at all. Funny story though. When DS was in college he came home one day and was trudging down the hall, as boys that age are apt to do, and caught the strap of his back pack on the lever handle of the linen closet. Because he was moving rather quickly, before he knew what was happening, it spun him around and slammed his face into the wall. When he called to tell me he was going to the eye doctor to replace the glasses that were just broken, he couldn't stop lauging. He's 35 now and we still laugh about it. That being said, I've caught the strap of my purse on DM's door knobs many times, so I think there are pros and cons for each. I did read somewhere that levers were better for the elderly and handicapped. Good luck!...See MoreAnyone have Lever Style Doorknobs in your Interior Doors
Comments (36)I had the upstairs knobs changed to levers a couple weeks ago and I love them! Changed the hinges to match (orb). I think they make the entire second floor hallway (surrounded by 5 doors) look so much better, and they are easy to use...no problems. Laschnit, I had Kwikset levers installed that I purchased at HD. I think they look and feel super, and my handyman said they were easy-peasy to install. They are still fairly pricey, (though I know not close to Baldwin's prices)as the bill adds up when you go from door to door! So worth it, though. I'll change out the downstairs after I re-do the powder room and paint a couple of doors. HD had Baldwin on display, but I didn't think they looked any better than the ones I bought. I couldn't justify the cost differential. In fact, I liked the way the Kwikset looked more than the orb Baldwin options....See MoreDoors- knobs AND levers??
Comments (1)I've used one set and split in two, just screw the knobs on the door without the interior fittings. Then add a ball catch where the doors close together. This will cover the opening where you would have the normal closure. Ball catches are easily found at hardware stores and are adjustable. Here is a link that might be useful: Door Ball Catch...See MoreWhich knob or lever for this specific interior door style?
Comments (1)I have a mixture of both lever and round in my home....round on the interior doors and lever on the entry. I have the oil rubbed bronze bath fixtures, and went with that color for the interior doors. However, at the suggestion of my decorator, I went with the black on the entry door as it is a dark wood door and we wanted some contrast. I'm glad I did. Hope this helps......See Moreakl_vdb
