Could you perhaps add some more information about elements that were in the room? Was it modern, contemporary, traditional? Was it a living room? Art work?

Definately traditional. It was a living room with a glass enclosed fireplace which jutted out into the room about two feet (so the back of the FP was level with the outside wall of the house - hope I am explaining this properly). The three walls, front and two sides of the fireplace area were painted aqua/turquoise - the fireplace box was black - the mantel sides and top were a dark charcoal gray and I believe the surround was a white-ish luminescent glass mosaic tile. The picture was a direct one, pointing directly to the FP itself. I can so picture it in my head but can't remember where it came from. I know I left it at one of the paint stores but called the local BM guy and they don't remember it being there, but of course one of the part timers could have thrown it away. I was so convinced it was BHG because that is really the only shelter mag I tear pics from, the others I save. I have searched their website and even emailed them as I said, but have had no luck.

Narrowed my google search to gray mantel with aqua/turquoise walls which only had 26,000 hits. Looked at all of them but couldn't find my pic. Think I need to give up. Unless you can give me some quick ideas on a search, don't waste your time on this but thanks anyway. BooHoo but I'll live.

So if you feel pretty sure it was BHG, do you have any idea of which issue? Was it this year? Do you know the season if not the specific month? Some of us may have older issues hanging around and your library would be another source. Can you narrow it down any further?

Gosh - I am pretty sure I cancelled BHG about 9 months ago so no more recent than that, but the pic could have been anywhere within the last 2 - 3 years tops. I don't want anyone to go crazy, if you come across it great, but if not, I'll come up with other ideas. I am going to email them and do another search to see if I have success this time. I hate when you get something in your mind and can't get past it - or is that only me?

you could check with your local library and see if they have back issues of bhg...I'll bet they do. You could probably check out at least a year's worth and bring them home to go through, then get another year, etc. Wouldn't take that long.

Lynn, you seem to have such a vivid pix of this in your head, do you really NEED the inspiration pix? Since you have the vision, it is just a matter of using paint colors that work in your space. Those colors could be very different from the ones in the inspiration pix anyway, due to lighting, flooring, etc in your space. I say have confidence in your inner eye on this, and just go forward. I just tried this with "grey mantel turquoise walls", and then again with "GRAY mantel turquoise walls" and came up with an entirely different series of photos. Why don't you try it with the other spelling of "gray" - instead of "grey"?

Have you tried putting quotes around "gray mantle"?

I put "gray mantle" into Google images and I got a thousand pictures of birds, a tiny cougar and what looked like used bubble gum, LOL. I guess spelling it correctly would help.

This is still not it, darn!! In my photo the part where the fireplace juts out into the room is the only area that is painted aqua - or maybe a softer robins egg. The large piece in my room is dark- a chocolate brown sofa which if you picture, aqua walls, dark gray mantel, brown sofa - it just doesn't sound great, yet there was something in my picture that pulled it all together. Maybe it was the color of the other walls, fireplace surround, chairs??? I don't know, but as I said, I just can't remember why but it spoke to me, and it wasn't something you would see in anyone else's room (except obviously the one in the pic).

It began when I saw a pic similar to the one you posted, with a black mantel. Wanting to do something other than the predictable white mantel, but concerned the black would be "too" much with the brown I considered a darker gray - then I saw the pic and I realized it was doable. "My bad" for losing the darn thing.

Over the last few years the mags I have received that I might have torn a page out of are, Family Circle, Womans Day, Good Housekeeping and possibly Southern Living/Accents but I have searched their web sites with no success. I have to put it out of my mind for now, and the FP mantel won't be sprayed in the next few weeks, but I do appreciate everyone's efforts. Lynn fr CT
