I did see that lamp but it is a little different than what I have. The placement of where the shade hangs is dropped down from the tail on mine but through the tail on the link. Also the area where the head meets the body looks smoother on the link than mine which is more abrupt. Lastly, the base on the link looks like one piece where mine is sectioned and held togeter by two screws. Thank you for fixing the posts - I am new to this and wasn't able to fix so the photo post stayed on top. The electrical isn't working right now. I will try and fix once I know what I have. Even if it isn't antique, it is still an interesting piece. Thank you for the help!

I just saw one like this the other day--the livingroom was designed around it! My mother has a small kitchen and no diningroom so she has a china cabinet and china from her great grandmother in the livingroom. If it makes you happy, go for it!

Update: Once we moved in, we had several people in to look at this fireplace on structural issues. We knew when we bought the house that the floor in that hall area sloped a bit towards the fireplace. Turns out it wasn't just that bit of floor, it was also the DR and the adjoining end of the kitchen (the backside of the closet). It had also torn the drywall panel on the DR side of the wall as it sunk - not a seam, but the sheet itself. The underlying problem was insufficient footing of the FP when the house was built. Hmm. In the end there was no reasonable way to fix the issue, so we bit the bullet and had it removed. I miss my little brick walled DR, but I seem to be the only one. The lovely plastic wrap was in place for several weeks. We also had the floor raised, which is a definite improvement. (The stuff in the DR is a vanity waiting to go in the hall bath. When we took up the bath floor - guess what! - it was mostly rotten from a leak several years ago, so the bath progress is a little slower than anticipated.) We've chosen a new FP to go on the wall at the right side of this photo. It will be more or less like this with a black frame, but insides TBD: P.S. Remember that wallpaper in the DR and entry hall from the original photos? Turns out that that paper was a second layer over the original paper. The second layer was vinyl, strippable paper that came off in the usual fashion. The paper underneath was another story altogether. Evidently, the builders applied it directly to raw drywall. It was never coming off. We finally had to have the drywall guys in to mud over those walls and re-texture. The master bedroom and bathroom were the same story. This is the master bath which hasn't been redone yet. We think the original paper was a foil.

Well I kinda..um..have a historical line of mishaps that kinda um..aim at my head lol..starting with a kitten defending himself from my generous help to get off the roof when I was five(I had this scar for years after)..then breaking my nose during a fierce snowball game when I was 12(did someone here ever had a complicated plastic surgery, no anesthesia? they didn't waste anesthesia on me back then..just tied me with belts..if you had it-you know..very helpful for the future when you need to encourage yourself or something)..and then to the various motor vehicle accidents, including being hit by a van.. I wouldn't say it's earthquakes per se..)) I also don't sleep at night for all sorts of reasons but earthquakes. it's more like I'm a well informed optimist lol..chances being hit in the head being statistically slim and all..))) (we had this saying: "a pessimist is a well informed optimist, an optimist is a well instructed pessimist.".))
