Coordinating rugs in an open floor plan

I need a rug under my kitchen table. My house has an open floor plan.

The rug in my sunken living room is this one

You can see my kitchen table is on the other side of the 1/2 wall.

I am thinking about this rug for under the kitchen table?

Other rugs I like are

I actually really like that last one with the green. We will be remodelling the kitchen in the next 12-24 months. Probably just natural maple cabinets, slightly darker oak floors (just refinishing what we have), either soapstone or engineered type quartz countertops. Stainless appliances.

So what do you think of the rugs?

I could also get a smaller one for in front of the kitchen sink. like a 3.5'x5'.

I think you have the right idea of coordinating your rugs by using similar colors. I also like to vary the scale or the type of pattern. It looks like you have enough separation with the pony wall that you won't really be seeing both rugs at the same time so I think you could probably use any of the choices you posted. Personally, I like the stripe and the last choice the best.

I really like the last rug you posted. I think it coordinates well with what you have in the family room. Plus, the pony wall provides separation so they are not side by side.

Are you seeking a monochromatic color scheme? For me, I much prefer a traditional Heriz, Serapi or Hamadan pattern with richer and more varied color to mix and match throughout the space. Gabbeh rugs also offer rich textures and patterns.

I agree that you do not need a rug under your table. It is anchored by the dog bed. Just kidding. It is framed/anchored by the windows. I pondered this same issue, with a table centered on two patio doors, and decided not to use one. I don't think there is necessarily one correct answer, but I think your table looks lovely and lets the floors/surroundings serve as accents.

I also like the last one you posted and think it will work well. I also have two rugs close by in an open floorplan. What I've found works well is to use similar colors, but to have the rugs vary either in pattern or in the predominate background color. One rug has a gold background with rust, brown and sage accents with a black border; the adjacent rug has a sage background with the rust, gold, and brown accents. They need to be different enough to stand alone, but have some elements in common in terms of style and colors to link them together.

I like the first one - the stripes and it will great with natural maple cabinets. The last one and the one you currently have, I think, are too close in pattern size to work well together. Pony wall or not. Just my 2c.

I like the stripe or the last one. We also have an open floor plan. My rugs are all Soumaks (flat-weave) but not all the same color(s). You can vary colors as long as they are in the same family/tone (for ex: wouldn't put fall colors in one room and spring in another).
