I probably haven't been at it as long as you. Phil, I haven't been 'serious' about Hosta for too many years. Seems to me my interest first got piqued about 6 or 7 years ago, when I started to get a bit more intrigued and involved with ornamental gardening. Having said that, this sport appeared on a clump that's been in the same spot for about 20 years or more. Sports happen. Randomly. Heck I've seen, and purchased, fairly common Hosta that are sporting right in the #1 pot they're in at the nursery. Most of the time when a single sporting leaf shows nothing will become of it and it'll be back to normal the next year. Periodically though you will encounter sporting on an entire shoot and that's when it becomes interesting because you'll see a continuation of the process the next year. And as for naming it, it has occurred to me. I have already done some cursory checking to see if there are any known Hyacinthina sports like what I'm experiencing and I have failed to come up with one, but then again a fair number I was unable to pull up any pictures for, so who knows... Duncan Phyfe was a high-style, expensive NYC furniture designer in the early 19c. I do not think he worked in maple or did things like deacon's benches. His name became somewhat synonymous with "early American" or "colonial" and that may be why you were told your furniture was that. The real thing is in museums, if you want to check it out in person. Or the public library will have books with photos. Another thought is Wallace Nutting. He made reproductions of high style early American furniture in the early 20c. They were of very high quality and are now quite collectible themselves, tho not as expensive as the real thing.

I think of so many questions to possibly help you decide! Did you sit on the orange one in the shop, and is it as comfortable, or more so than your current one? I ask as the seat cushion looks a bit thin and not what I'd expect to see. Are you happy with your current one's comfort and size although it needs repair and re-upholstering? When you say, ' I wish the frame were not painted but the price is low so I can live with that. Not sure I can live with the color though.' How would you address the frame color, and how would you handle upholstery that you say you are not sure you could live with? Is it possible that the time and money you might possibly have to put in the low priced orange one would come close to the estimates that you have had for the current one? I couldn't live with the way the frame has been painted either. I don't care for the light color with the fabric, as it just doesn't relate. What color is the welting? I liked the suggestion of a deep navy color, and would use a gloss to bring out the carving I see on the front . I'd then find or make pillows that relate the frame with the upholstery color. Painting the frame would take a careful touch so as not to get paint on the welt or fabric. I'd carefully use masking tape on all of it. Would you be buying the fabric for the current one to be re-done? What is your ideal fabric? I ask that because I just got this email below from Barn Fabrics, with the majority of their fabrics on sale for $3.99 a yard. Some of their fabrics aren't exciting, but they have many that are recent or current, and you can get wonderful buys. I know how exciting it is to see a low priced item that you're drawn to. I like to find ones on CL, but I buy them with the intent of re-doing them. It almost seems as that is what you'd need to do with this one, as you don't care for the frame painting or the fabric. I wish we could see a better pic of your current one, as it looks beautiful. Have you looked at all local shops who would repair and re-upholster it? Good luck! Yep and it was good!!! Spinach Maria 2 pk frozen chopped spinach 1 pk 8 oz cream cheese 1 medium onion, chopped 1 cup Parmesan cheese 1 teaspoon butter 3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (more or less to taste) Instructions for Spinach Maria Cook spinach according to directions, drain very well (I let cool, then squeeze out the water in a paper towel or cheesecloth). Saute onion in butter until tender. Add cream cheese and stir until melted. Add spinach, parmesan cheese, and pepper. Cook several minutes more until well blended. Placed in greased casserole dish and bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until browned on top. Cover with shredded cheddar cheese. Enjoy! I'm not a fan of cooked spinach, but I love this one.
