Do you ever get overwhelmed???
Comments (39)Ok, last night I was very overwhelmed, lol. I started my spaghetti sauce project and it was the first time I can ever remember wishing I had a helper or another pair of hands. I only got through peeling and coring them all up, but that's the hard part so I'm over the hump and tonight's the easy part. Now I've got 5 or 6 very full ziplocks in the fridge. I told the BF to be very careful opening the fridge and just getting in there. He's a clean freak, I can imagine the fallout from even one fat ziplock hitting the floor. Our cabinets and appliances are all white. yikes. And does anybody else buy canning stuff just because it's on sale? I bought a pot that is way bigger than I need, but the price was too good to pass up! I went in looking for just a regular size enamel water canner because I'm in need of a second one (gave an extra one away a while back and probably shouldn't have, lol), but they had a 33 quart one on sale. Originally $35, marked down to $25, I also had $7 in coupons, so it was basically $18. The size I went in for was $20, no sale and with coupons would have been $13. I've no idea where I'm going to keep it, it's absolutely huge, but I'm sure I'll be glad to have it at some critical point. Am I alone in this? lol...See MoreDo you ever feel guilty?...
Comments (12)I'm a married man with a 10 week old child and a shih tzu. I do dishes, laundry, take out the trash, mow the yard, keep a fruit and vegetable garden, build and fix whatever, work over 40hrs a week, and try to keep "MY" flower beds looking decent lol. My wife could care less most days if the yard was mowed or if the flower beds looked like anything. For some reason I have a crazed anxious urge to stay on the move all the time. I very rarely crash and take lazy days, even though the laziness is well deserved and well needed. I love more than anything to mow the grass and to garden in the flower beds. I'm always feeling guilty that it just isn't right. Bare spots here and there in the grass, a few weeds in the flower beds, flowers in the wrong spot, more to buy, more to plant, more more more to split and give away.... lots of it is overwhelming. And at times I feel stressed and guilty over all of it, possibly that I'm neglecting something.. maybe my wife and child lol. My urges lie in the progression of everything else...but then again I'm human and more precisely a man lol so go figure. I never claimed to be romantic =P...See MoreDo you ever feel like the 'counter top' police?
Comments (29)I think perhaps by definition we TKO are disproportionately fussbudgety. What's it all for anyway? You can't take those perfectly unscratched cabinets with you. Maybe have yourself buried with them like pharaohs? Nah..... Dings Happen. And as for dh's who can't refrain from cutting on granite - well, that's why we just need to teach (or have taught) our children well.... :) And in the absence of that, this is why we have MIL jokes... ;) FWIW -- I drive around in a minivan that has a cracked bumper; you can see its innards, the metal "I-beam"-like thingymabob in there. It is very out of place in LA where so much is just-so. I attract a lot of attention. But it is not worth it to me to spend the money (thousands; more than the car's worth) to fix it. And in all honesty, I don't care, though I recognize it gives many the willies. Thing is, it reminds me of an interlude in French Canada where the ding was inflicted by a snowplow. They have a very different relationship with snowplows, snow removal and those who perform said operations there. The previous winter there had been several individuals killed by errant snowplows. But subsequent inquiries had determined the individuals were simply "in the wrong place at the wrong time" -- like my car and its bumper (parked, on the side of the road with many others just like it). Things happen, and just about all that changes is our reactions to it. Seems a life's lesson I rather value leaving visible on my bumper. But of course that's way too long a story to explain to the guys trolling parking lots looking to "fix" it (not) for a few $$....See MoreDo you ever feel...?
Comments (11)First keep in mind that 30% of the male population is color blind. Even painters can be color blind, though they would NEVER admit it. Check to see if those who are giving you opinions about paint can identify the number in the circle on the left and then the circle on the right. If they cannot they are red/green color blind. Do not take color advice from them. Then when you're looking at 10 different choices at the wall, don't strive to say YES, but NO. Too many choices can be daunting. You'll feel like you are accomplishing more if you view choices and say NO to something. That eliminates a choice and the variables get fewer and fewer. Also don't beat yourself up over a task you don't do everyday. Practice makes perfect. Thank goodness you're not trying to select paint colors from a 2" chip or asking for advice on paint colors via the internet, which makes absolutely no sense to me as a designer considering the variables of location, time of year, and computer monitors that don't illustrate colors the same from one to the other.
