I don't know if you've chosen your shingle color yet, but I know how you feel. I felt very apprehensive when picking out my shingle color. I had the look of our home in my head, and it had a dark roof, not black, but dark. When picking my brick and mortar color, NOBODY agreed with my selection except for my husband. The supply company even told my builder that it was NOT a color of mortar that was ever used with my brick color. After that was over, then there was the shingle selection. Apparently noone agreed with that either, except my husband. Everytime I picked a dark color, someone from my building team would hesitate. Finally the project lead suggested Autumn Brown by Tamko at www.tamko.com. It has a combination of browns with a chocolate brown, which is the color of our mortar. The shingles went up on the house today, and will be completed tomorrow, and the color is perfect for the house. I was concerned, even after we ordered a sample and set it next to the brick and mortar samples. I also used www.colorplan.com to give me a clue as to what colors might look good on the roof. It looks like there are some kind of panels attached to the wall because of the seams. It's a coincidence as I was just thinking about our houses in the early 90's-mid-90s. Faux finishes were the "in" thing--at least in my suburban area. In the master bedroom I did a finish with a tool called a Woolie. It resulted in the something like your picture (different color though) without what seems to be some texture. I googled it. The tool is still sold. Look at the color mesh tool. They have a picture that is similar to yours in blacks/grays. Samples

I don't have them currently, but in my last house, we had our master bathroom cabinets that were stained a steely blue. I wish I had pictures. You could still see some wood grain, but the finish was so pretty. They held up beautifully. I would recommend getting some wood samples and testing it before deciding this is the way you want to go.

Are you asking about the tops of the bar stools in that post? If you look at the third photo, which shows one top pretty clearly, you can see at the top, it is pretty dark, and then gets much lighter as you get closer to the near edge of the top - so it is not just one color. If you are asking for a stain to match that wood because there is a small scratch, your best bet is to buy a wood colored marker - markers - the link is to a set , here is another set with a slightly different colors https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rejuvenate-Wood-Furniture-and-Floor-Repair-Markers-RJ6WM/202676224 While it won't be an exact match, a marker that is slightly lighter usually does a good job hiding the scratch. If you are trying to stain bare wood ( either raw, or originally finished but stripped and sanded ) the type of wood you have will play a role - a stain applied to maple will look different than that same stain applied to pine, cherry or walnut. In that case, if there is a Woodcraft store near you, they usually have an extensive set of dyes and stains, you could take you phone and open up the facebook page in the store and let them help you out.
