hi all,

so here is a link to my facebook photo album. i think (hope, really) that it will work. a lot of the pics are old but i just finished doing a small vase and some tiles. i think they're the first five pictures that come up.

i'm making the smaller tiles into a coaster set of 4 with a trivet (sp?). the vase i just found at work - i guess donations came in and none of the residents were interested b/c it sat out in the yard in the mud for a couple of weeks before i took it home.

i'm REALLY happy to be doing this again. i can't believe how much i missed mosaics. (darn job!..lol)

You've done some really nice pieces.
My favorite is the spider. Hope you don't mind if I borrow that idea!

Ha ha...wouldn't be worth it Ryan, it would never last thru USDA quarentine anyway. Better off to go to your local big box store and buy a serissa.

Looks like you will be busy with your new stuff! I like your swing too! Are you going to put different pic in each "pane" or 1 thing flowing from pane to pane? country scene-walking down road or stream & background etc. Guess would be lot harder doing 1 scene. Someone on mosaics did a river on her stair risers & it was beautiful! Keep us posted on your progress! Jan

We also have those native plants that insist on growing in the midst of another plant. We have grape, black berry, fig, poison oak. Because of the location you can not dig them out, nor spray them without damaging your favorite shrub. We have found a tool with a long handle and a sharp,very sharp hook on the end. Locate the offending plant at ground level and with a quick pull you will sever the growing stem. It will grow back, thats true, but you can do it again, and keep it under control if not eliminated. We are also using the mosquito repelling device called "off", that has a battery operated fan with a tiny vial of repellent that we hang on our clothing when we want to enjoy the garden at the same time as the mosquitoes. I am looking at some bamboo wood flooring options I really like, and based on my square footage, I could take a few days off work and install 1000 sqft of flooring myself fairly easily. A friend of mine did something similar to this -- it was years ago. She bought a condo, and carpet was the only option. She has allergies and cats, so she wanted hardwoods (or maybe it was laminate, or whatever). She couldn't avoid putting in the carpet, but she asked the installers not to stretch it much, just to lay it down. The day after the place was "hers" -- before she moved in -- she had the carpet removed and the hardwoods installed ... and she donated the carpet to something like H-for-Humanity (and got a tax write-off). I am failing to see how. Even with these floors? Please educate me, seriously. The problem is that Sophie will find a problem with anything. If you'd said laminate, she'd have had a different complaint. If you'd said tile, it would've been something else. I personally have no knowledge of bamboo floors. I'll just say be sure you're keeping all your choices in line for the neighborhood. What you're doing will be some trouble to you, but it's creative thinking and will save you money. Now, what else can you do to bring down that 100K number?

nope, not crash glass. those were glass coasters i bought at the dollar store - painted the backs and cut them up. i'd like to give crash glass a try some time though.

I love everything! The use of the bright colors is great. I have to get myself away from greens. I have been in a rut using one color on everything. I'll use you as an inspiration to start using some reds, purples and blues.

my favorite object is the number #23 dragonfly and favorite picture is #16...that's a great study in shadows..
it would be cool to paint as a still life study.

wonderful bunch of colors there, all around, with a fun flair.

I love the box (chest) you have been working on. I have liked that since the first day I ever saw it. Will love to see that completed.

Oh I like how if you scroll over your pieces you get a small narative about the piece, thats really cool!!!!

Don't think I've seen these before. Love how colorful and cheerful they are, esp love the disco ball! Am really envious of how good your swirls are, can't get those to come out swirly.
