No flaws in your room Beaches...simple and beautiful!

I've spent a lot of time tweaking all my rooms over the years and I love then all. But, I think my favorite would have to be our living room. The ceilings are wood with vigas (wood beams) and the floors are brick.The walls are exposed adobe painted a warm cream. The sofas are cream, too, but it's not a bland room. There's color from the paintings, statues, Indian pots, kachinas, Oriental rug, sofa pillows and our game table.

To us, it's beautiful and cozy every season of the year. We don't have a tv in here, but do have a good stereo system. This is where we love to listen to music, read, visit with friends and each other or just enjoy the views. There are lots of windows with views of the mountains out back and mesas out front. We use this room pretty much every day and I love it. In fact, I'm sitting in here right now, watching a storm coming in over the mesas. There's no real rhyme or reason to my decorating in here; it's just filled with things we love.

And opposite the fireplace wall is a bookcase filled with old family photos, kachinas, a storyteller statue, Indian pots, books, an antique radio and a lot more stuff that's probably junk to most everyone else but treasures to us (LOL!).

Lynn, you need to show your bedroom because it's MY favorite part of your house. lol.

We love our living room. In fact, we were just talking about buying a new sofa or having our current sofa recovered. It's a multi-purpose room, used for quiet conversation, large groups and large dinner parties. In the back corner we have a Duncan Phyfe table that opens to seat 12. Also we have a piano in the back, which you can't see in this pic.

Lynn in New Mexico, You've completely changed my mind on Spanish style. I never was a fan but after seeing your rooms (now and in your past postings), I've got a new appreciation.

TTD, have you seen her bedroom? (L, show your bedroom!) I wouldn't leave it.

Lynn, not one of our dog's will lay in front of the fire like a dog should, but we had to buy Lizzie her own little cat stool because as soon as we light the FP, she curls up immediately and goes to sleep. She's our fireside cat.

Lizzie showed up in the backyard one day as a tiny kitten and kind of made herself at home. :)

Gorgeous rooms. I would say right now ours is our bedroom. it is not really decorated, but we spend a lot of time there as a family. I would take a pic, but I know you all would think I was nuts. :) We cosleep with our kids and luckily have a big enough room that it fits a king and a queen side by side with enough extra room for a twin in the corner (someday I think they will sleep in it!) and a chair and three dressers. Well, I think the chair is too much now, I would like that taken out.

We spend time talking and singing at night as the kids go to sleep (if I can get home from work in time), and in the morning when the kids get up I get to spend some time with the while DH gets ready.

Right now, my favorite is the family room:

Once we redo the living room, I hope it will be the favorite.

I love our bedroom. To my eyes (and DH's) it's cozy, serene and very romantic, without being too froufrou.

I took down everything on our kiva fireplace mantel except to the candelabra on the left side and also left the old coal hod that I use to hold wood for the fireplace. This is the view from our bed.

Another reading area:

Our MBR has a foyer with an archway into the bedroom and also doors into the closet and en suite. When we had this place built, I had them put in a small nicho to hold one of our santos.

Next to my (above) reading nook, is a door leading out to a small walled-in patio. I've tried to keep all the flowers out there pastels with a lot of white and pink to work well with our MBR. This is the view from the door.

lynn--your entire house looks so graciously-lovely, and oh so inviting! Different from my taste, and favorite decor, but I absolutely love your house!!!

lynn, I love how you created so many vignettes in your home....it makes it really special.

Hard for me to pick a favorite room in my house as I like them all...or I wouldn't have decorated them the way I did. But I really like the warmth and tradition of the library...it's both cozy yet open at the same time.

And I love all the remembrances in the room...the stained glass lamp shade my Dad made, the boat my grandfather made, the pie crust table DH's grandfather made, the antique clocks that were gifts from DH's grandmother, the books collection that was my FIL's...

I have to say my kitchen. A few years we redid it, with a tremendous amount of help from the GWers on the Kitchen forum, and I am still in love with it! It is a very functional space, with a calming, simple style that suits us very well. Every bit of time I can spend there, preparing food for my family is a blessing.

oops! I forgot the picture of one of my favorite things in the kitchen - my customized mixer. I am a chemist, so I found a vendor on etsy to make a set of mixer decals with the chemical structures of common ingredients (vanilla, butter, egg, sugar...) for me.

Jreuter, that is just too cool! I wish my kitchen was calm right now, but we have so many garden veggies waiting to be tended to. Including big watermelons. At least the big pumpkins will stay outside!

My current favorite is my new little screen porch. I have spent many hours here this summer; in fact, I'm out here now listening to the crickets.

Mine is also the porch during the nice weather. I read the news paper with a cup of coffee just about every morning. In the afternoon, I read my Kindle or surf on my Ipad. I will usually end up taking a cat nap. :)

Other times, it's my study because that is where my computer is.
