Price Double hung windows and install price?

I contacted company named as the worlds largest builder of replacement windows with a very good window according to the experts. These are Vinyl windows.

I received a price (there recommended installer) of $700.00 each for normal sized windows (DH) installed! Is this the normal pricing structure for good vinyl windows or any windows for that matter?

I would really appreciate answers concerning this. If further info is needed please ask.

There is thousands of vinyl windows out their. three important factors are air infilteration, framing r-value, and glass. If you live up north you want a triple pane window. In the south you want a double pane. You can get a better solar heat gain. $700 hundred is high. What people don't understand is all companies are 25-40% markup value. The best window in north or south is a company called Sunrise. They care a triple and double. By NFRC they beat all te top brands in every rating. Don't pay more than $600. Always negotiate. Give them A price. I have been in Home improvement sales all my life. I have sold Simoton, Gorell, champion, great lakes, alside(window world, piece of sh--!)and sunrise. The window is amazing.

Now I'm fit to be tied. My contractor just called me to say that on the Vanguard ordering system, he can't order grids to match the new royal brown exterior color. He confirmed that the new exterior colors aren't available in grids. I originally hadn't contemplated grids, but the single prairie style really grew on me and we decided to put them in the four picture windows. I ended up thinking that would look really nice. Now I either have to change the exterior color (none of the others work for me at all) or forego the grids all together. I just went to the Soft-Lite site to try to see what i can get and started a chat. It seems like I can get the combination I want, though I loath having to start again. They're going to contact my contractor. But, my question here is this. Are the Soft-Lite Elements comparable to the Vanguard? Any pros or cons to the Elements? Should I expect them to be similar in price? Anything else you can tell me about the Soft-Lite windows? I've not investigated them much.

I had single hung AL frame windows in a home I sold about a year and a half ago. they were ok, even though the house was a single story ranch going out side to wash the windows was a pain... some wiwdows were harder to reach from the ground and I still needed a ladder, plus some had flower beds outside under them. that made it harder since I didn't want to tramp down the flowers. I am starting to replace the old wood double hung windows with double hung windows that tilt in to clean. I really like them I have to say it makes cleaning them very easy and worth the price to me because I hate to clean windows so much. I have never cleaned the old windows in the house I am in now and doubt if I ever will clean any of the old windows before they get replaced since its such a hassle.

Post up a picture if you can, but yes. Most time, you can just screw the brackets right to the case molding if that is what you have. You just need to account for the bevel in the case molding with some washers behind the short side screws. It will take a few minutes on the first one but you will be an absolute pro in about 2 sets.

mhays21 thanks for your reply. The window I was talking about is made by a company called "Schuco" supposedly they are the largest maker of windows in the world. It has a great recommendation from another web site but 1 of the people there also gave me a lecture on how these companies had it so rough and $700.00 was a decent price, I think he is nuts!

I don't know anything about Sunrise but I will check them out.

Sunrise is good, but it's not the best. They need to switch to Super Spacer before they can be the best.

Sunrise uses xledge spacer from cardinal glass, which has the lowest failure rate in the industry. I never said sunrise was the best. but i have yet to see a window statistically better. If there is I love to learn about new product.

So. how do Sunrise windows compare to Pella, Symington, and all the national brands that are normally recognized by everyone.
I am especially interested in Bay/Bow windows?

PS. I emailed the Sunrise company for complete literature and have yet to hear back from them by conformation email. It has been only a couple of days, but still!
