I had it in my watch list and just came out to see if Jess was going to bid on it.. and now I see Flyleft is interested too. I'll hold off.. there will be others.
flyleft: I know--I get all the f-words mixed up around here. :) Yes, funky, be on-the-ready: Decide ahead of time exactly how much you would be willing to pay, tops, then 10-15 seconds before the auction ends, place your bid.
Oh guys.. don't beat me! I am not Kathy (I am Beth).
I figured that I had missed threads earlier today or this week where someone else was looking at the rug.. and I backed off. I should have checked back but I had a long bad day so I walked away from the computer for the night. Boo me. Someone got a nice deal on the rug.
I meant to check back before the auction ended but I got caught up with some work issues-- and I wouldn't have bid unless I was sure no one else here wanted it. I know I would have found a spot for it but I didn't have a specific room in mind.
Missing out on this auction sure fit the trend of the day. Time to put it all to bed .. tomorrow is a new day.
Oh well, I do hate it when those things happen but I try to tell myself it wasn't meant to be, for one reason or another. I didn't bid on it either, fwiw :)
Here's one that will make you feel better: I was at goodwill last week and picked up and considered for a good long time two enameled copper plates. One was .99, one was 2.99. They were *so* simple, though, that I decided to "catch and release" them. They were signed, and I went home and the next day, remembered to look them up and see if there was any info on them. Um. There was. They are at least $150 each. And I put them DOWN on purpose! They were gone when I went to look back. *smacks self upside head* OH wait...it wasn't meant to be, right?
Drat. And here I was thinking how much better it'd go in my DR than the one I bought 2 months ago.... I also didn't want to step in on someone else's find. Oh well..... It would've been very difficult to justify this one to my DH.
Oh Val, I am sorry.. I wasn't invested in the rug which is why I was backing off if someone else was interested. I feel totally awful that you held off on my account.
I was intending to bid in the low range anyhow--since I liked the rug but didn't know where I'd use it. Also, I am not putting down any new rugs for the time being due to sick dogs. I broke my rug rule when I bought the aubussons for the LR and then my lab/golden broke them in when he got pancreatitis.
So yeah, it wasn't meant to be. There will be others... for both Val and I :)
