My first thoughts were of some sort of a patterned tapestry or an iron piece. I think either would work well, although I see you already have one iron piece in there over the desk...

Ooo.... creekylis what a lovely idea. We're in the process of a buying a house and we have some walls that I don't know what I wanted to do with them, and I hadn't though about tapestries. What a great idea, and these are awesome. I especially like the second and last ones. (I know this wasn't for me, but thanks for some inspiration.)

Yes, those are fabulous tapestries! I'll definitely look into this. I think a tapestry or some other textured piece is the way to go, rather than representational art. As you note, creek, I do have an iron piece already and don't want the room to look too "iron." Otherwise I like some of the Pier One pieces.

That second tapestry is absolutely fabulous! I think something like that, against the lovely paint color would look beautiful.

newhomebuilder, thanks for the picture! It really helps to visualize the space. I was astonished at all the tapestries on e-bay, ranging in price from 10.00 to 750.00! I found one that I like a lot and it's affordable. I tried to post it here but can't get it to show. It has a name--Crimson Blossom--and is an arts and crafts type design. I've also found it at other stores on the web so it is readily available.

I'm glad you are having success... I really think a tapestry will look nice.

Your beautiful lamp shade pattern really gets lost, though. Maybe you could move the table off to the side? Or maybe something with a more solid color area at the bottom, like a lush hill of rich landscape.

Oh, squirrelheaven thank you so much for your photoshopping. I love the tapestries but I think I might like the arts and crafts tiles better. I agree that the lamp needs to show, and this may do it better. The wall is actually a bit bowed out in a nice little triple-type curve so the symmetrical look of the two chairs under the windows with the table in the center really works (rather than the table to the side). I will definitely look into these tiles. The people at this forum are fabulous, and very helpful. I think I need to learn how to photoshop.

I believe I like the tiles better, too. Just to make sure, here is your tapestry on the wall.

You're welcome : ) As much as I love tapestries and that's a great spot for one, it doesn't work with your art lamp. The framed tiles as a backdrop looks just gorgeous to me and fits in beautifully with your furnishings (of course I love anything clay :) The lamp really gets to shine as the piece of art that it is. Art tiles are really nice to sit and look at, too : ) And the colors are rich and beautiful.

Hopefully not too much of a bow on the wall, though I've seen it done.

I do love that tapestry--and there are other areas in the house where I might consider it. creek, I did a search for the Crimson Blossom tapestry online and found it in many places, for as low as the $89.00 the ebay seller was offering it for. squirrelheaven, now I think I will search for similar but more affordable wood frames like the Dard Hunter frames in your photoshopping. They are wonderful, but pricey!

Yes, I know it's a pricey shop, but I stumbled in there a few years back and knew they had nice enough things to show as an example for your beautiful room : )
