Too low SHGC?

I've purchased several doors and windows for the south side of our Northern California home. During the purchase process, I was so caught up in getting the right U values for the permits, I didn't inquire about the SHGC. Now that I have the Low E2 Marvin Ultimate Clad windows delivered, I see that the SHGC ranges from .29 to .31. Unfortunately, these will be on the south facing side of the house. I am trying to resign myself to the fact that I will no longer have the warm sunshine coming through these windows again. They haven't been installed yet. How bad will it be (going from clear glass - single and double paned)? Our house is already naturally very cool in the summer because it is has a fair amount of insulation. Is it going to be colder now? I am beginning to regret that I didn't ask for higher SHGC. Why don't vendors give you all these performance numbers at the outset when ordering the windows so that you are aware of them?
