Some hostas just look drop dead gorgeous when they unfurl and some need a bit of time to come to color. I would guess that for those hosta that look their best at the time of your sale, you may get away with just two pips rather than the three per pot. We have a store that sells hosta each year. Last year they had a good variety of hosta. Most of the hosta were small sized, but they did have some more mature hostas that year. I did not think that the large hostas sold as easily. I think that people feel that they can buy small and the hosta will mature in no time at all. But we hostaholics know better and sometimes it pays to get a hosta in a larger size. Perhaps you have taken pictures of your hostas in the past years? If you have some good pictures, you may want to display them or have them handy as an example to show a potential customer. These were just some of my thoughts.

I noticed at WalMart yesterday that they are selling disks to fit inside the bottom of hanging baskets which are lined with the coir fibers. It looks exactly like a dull Scotchbrite cleaner, which does not disintegrate at all. I picked up two of them to fit a large wire basket, but still need the proper sized coir form for it. At Old Time Pottery a couple of years ago, I found wire baskets which were NOT meant for hanging, they were designed to sit on top of wooden 4x4 posts. I even put one of them on top of a short 4x4 post with a coir insert and a pot of birdnest fern which rose up a bit higher than the plants in the ground. (I think Les might find it useful in his minihaha garden). I also planted the asparagus fern in the smaller such pots and put them up in the air on top of the 8' tall fence posts, those ferns can survive better without being watered. However, the coir sort of disintegrated and the soil fell out, the plants are struggling but still alive. Soon I will try the Scotchbrite indestructible pads in them....or maybe the steel wool 20" wide pads as a liner for my big basket. I ordered two big boxes of these floor cleaner pads to use in the garden. My intent is to repel slugs with the 4" wide rolls of the steel wool, surely they won't climb over that.....and then to stop the ground diggers from going under my house, by burying these all around the perimeter where they are a problem. But I'm now thinking I can put one as the insert for a hanging wire basket. Good drainage, good soil retention. What's not to like about that.

Your probably right Marla, the market wouldn't like this the way I started the idea. I'm on one end of a "L" shaped Market(a permanent Market sight), when I need more room for display I bring my own table the I extend on the end. I'll bring my grandson with to handle my main display while I run the "BONUS BASKET" table. I'll have a sign that reads "BONUS BASKETS" "Customers ONLY-Please Line up Here. When There Gone There Gone!!" Somethink like that. If they All sell, Great! If they all don't sell by 4pm, (Market is 3pm-6pm). I'm hoping once the customers caugh on, I'll have a line of customers By 3pm sharp!! At 4pm I'll take the unsold items out of the baskets and display them separately, No more bonus buys. First Come/First Serve!! I don't want to take orders for delivery at the Market, done this before, sometimes the people who order ahead don't show up, even if I set a time. I'm Not interested in any per pay or pre order customers, at least not until early fall, I'm hoping to convert one of my GH's to Hoop House fall production! This will be NEW for me. I do know some about "CSA" but I'm not interested in this at this point. Deb

We have an upright freezer, and I have been married to an engineer for 38 years, so our freezer is ORGANIZED! The top shelf is for breads, biscuits, muffins, and herb butters. Second and third shelves are for vegetables in reusable plastic containers that are labeled with contents and date, and stacked in rows. Fourth shelf is for meats, also wrapped and labeled and dated. The door shelves are for nuts, berries, prepped vegetables like chopped onions. If "digging" were the way I found things in the freezer, he'd divorce me (no, he wouldn't, he'd just organize the freezer for me.)
